I've been hot for these bins for several months and was finally able to secure a new pair on auction last night at a good price. Picked them up from the shop along witha pair of 58mm snap-in objective caps and spent the afternoon walking around the Imperial Palace gardens and I have to say I really like their ergonomics.
Their weight really wasn't bothersome on the shoulder at all and they balance nicely in my palms. All in all they feel very natural to hold compared to a standard porro.
No color on axis but I can "force" some when looking at sharp dark edges off axis. Sharpness drops off ever so slightly away from center but I really had to look for it the grain of some wood to notice. No pincushion or barrel distortion was observed.
Eye relief is a weak point and I can only see the field stop with the eyecups folded down. But that is acutally my prefered eyecup position anyway with my other bins so no biggie.
With the IS functions engaged images become vivid "snapshots." Also like that I just need to tap the button to turn it on or off. There is a 5min autoshutoff feature to conserve power.
Tommorrow the weather should be fine and I'm taking them on a hike to Mt. Fuji and will hopefully get some nice nightsky views. But so far, best handheld view of the moon ever! More to follow.
