Good point about the tripod. It's very light, but suprisingly sturdy for its weight. If I recall right there's a hook under the center post where you can hang weights if you'd like to add a bit of mass to it. My little ETX-60BB is so light it does fine on the tripod. Using the hand controller helps a lot to keep the vibrations down.
