Another quite useful outcome of the reporting of RFOV would be that it could be used to actually quantify the presently somewhat loose and arbitrary term known as "orthoscopic". Eyepieces with some specific degree of close affinity between their AFOV and RFOV would by this means definitively BE orthoscopic, and eyepieces wherein the AFOV and RFOV deviate by more than this (as yet not pinned down) "orthoscopic affinity value" (to be called the eyepieces stated 'OAV' perhaps?

) would by definition NOT BE orthoscopic.
