Imbalance is only one of several "ills" of excessively porky eyepieces. A case full of eight-element eyepieces is heavy and adds to the hassle of loading and unloading as a result. A tall, heavy eyepiece is more apt to unscrew an SCT diagonal during a slew. A heavy eyepiece is more apt to damage itself on impact than a lighter one (hits with more force). Those are just a few examples. The number of ills associated with lower weight eyepieces is smaller (like everything else about them ).Regards, Jim |
