While browsing the advertisements for the New Haven, Connecticut Craigslist, I happened to notice a listing for a classic Criterion RV-6 6-inch F/8.3 Dynascope reflector telescope. The ad was posted on November 24th, 2008, and the web address is: http://newhaven.craigslist.org/for/932557913.html (I am not the seller of the telescope.) According to the ad, the seller replaced the original mirror with a 'new' one. Of course the original finely-figured mirror holds most of the value of the instrument. I wonder if they kept the original mirror, or tossed it? Comments on replacing a Criterion mirror with a new one from another source? (If it was me I would sure keep the original primary unless it was damaged beyond repair.) |
