Another thing to keep in mind is that some folks simply refuse to buy chinese made products becuase of China's multiple human rights violations, communist status, the environmental impact of unregulated Chinese factories (see the current smog over the Olympic stadium), the loss of jobs to China, and the imbalance of trade with the USA.

Please note that none of these factors have anything to do with the quality (or lack thereof) of chinese optics. I suspect that some of the attitudes exhibited on this forum has a bit to do with the above mentioned circumstances as much as anything.
