hi all, its been a exciting week for me as i picked up 3 telescopes and a 1950's 140 mount with rare worm drive. i noticed the worm right away and dated it to early 50's in unitron catalog. i also let my goto go to a collector that will cherish it more than i will. first i bought a unitron 114 with eyepieces and unihex on the bay. this one i took to 300x and it has a great lens in it. next i bought a 50's unitron 140 mount (bay also)that has rare worm gear. boy this thing was dirty but it is cleaning up real nice. not finished with it yet as it just came in mail today. then a while back i was browsing Topeka Ks. CL and came across a unitron 140. i left a message with owner then forgot about it because i did not hear back from till last week. he agreed to ship it to me and it came ups today also. its dirty and needs some cleanup but it is complete. and the other day i picked up a very nice celestron c8 locally on CL the other day.(there is a post in Cats section) optics on that one are real nice and have not a speck of dust that i can see. well, here are a bunch of pictures for those that would like to take a look. Brian first up is unitron 114 |

Brian, How much did you pay for that Unitron in Topeka? Just curious as I had a deal setup with him because he said that I was the first to inquire, and then when I got the money order made out to Mr. Little, he started avoiding me. Did you get it for the $200 he advertised it for? Thanks, Rich |

no rich, i offered him a little more right off from the start. it was at least a week before i heard back. i just kind of blew it off because i did nit hear back. he seemed like a very likable fellow. he even called me today to make sure i was happy with telescope. Brian |

He sent me an email and I talked to him on the phone, and I got a money order together for him, and he told me to call him the next morning. I did and told him I had the money order together, and then he sent me an email which was supposed to have his address. He told on the phone me that someone had offered him double, but that I was the first responder, so he'd sell it to me. Then in the next email he said he suddenly had to go back to Oklahoma to work on his property, and that he'd contact me when he returned with his address, so I could send the money order. That's the second time that has happened with a Unitron in Kansas. The last time was with a 62mm that a kid had. I got him the same thing, a money order, and he wrote me an email and said that he dropped it down the stairs, and it was in a million pieces. That one showed up here about a week later. I think I've lost all faith in Kansans! Anyway, enjoy your evening and the scope. Rich

rich, i saw that ad and sent him off a email offering more. i left him my number and when he called me back i had to ask him witch telescope he was talking about because by that time i had inquired about at least a half dozen others. he did tell me he was somewhere else for a while. anyway i knew better than to offer him 200.00 for a telescope that was worth 4 times that much. i made him a good offer for me and him sight unseen. there are to many of us that are up on these ads so i figured i did fair and still did good. you have to remember that there are people that are not even interested in sale but will email seller to give there 2 cents. Hi Brian, Yeah, I thought it was kind of funny because I had sent him about 6 emails or so, and then he got back with me on Sunday night 2 weeks ago. He said he had property in Oklahoma, and I asked him if $300 was enough. He said yep, you were the first to answer the ad, so I'll give you first crack. I thought that was kind of decent. I told him that I'd go get him a money order, and then he said great, call me in the morning and I'll get my address to you. I called him and he didn't answer, so I emailed him and told him that I had the money order ready to send, but he emailed me back and said he had to go back to OK, so he'd send me his address when he returned. I called him a few more times, but he never returned my calls or emails after that. I thought something was up. As soon as I saw your posting, I started laughing 'cause when I started reading and saw "Topeka" I knew that had to be the one. He said there were a bunch of eyepieces with it as well. Looks to be pretty nice in the photos. Anyway, thanks for the info. and congratulations on a productive week. I need to put up a scope for sale on this end, and I'll keep looking for the deals. I think just finding these old scopes is half the fun . Have a great night. Rich
