Less color in the nebula than my 1st attempt here: http://tinyurl.com/65hlo4 but much tighter stars (still not sure if I like the diffraction spikes) and a great deal more stars, including the central star of M27 (I think). The little ETX was tracking well that night! M27 10/21/08 @ 2207 EDT ETX-80 w/ SPC900NC SC1 61 10 second frames stacked in DSS processed with PS6 & Astronomy Tools |

With the soft glow, I'd say you had some Dew problems. Nice image though.

It's possible, but I don't think so. I think I had the gamma too high. I'm still experimenting, trying to get the most from the short exposures I can do in ALT/AZ. Until (if) I can get polar mode working with this mount, which probably won't be until I get too exasperated with what I can accomplish this way. I'm still at the point where I don't want to waste any imaging oppurtunities and with everthing else, don't have enough time to fool with it and do imaging both! Eventually, I'll get frustrated and figure out a way to get it to work or upgrade. |
