EQ6 Pro power solution

Hi,
I just bought a new skywatcher EQ6 PRO goto mount today and i noticed it doesn't come with a power supply. The power cable it did come with had a cigarette lighter power adapter for a car on it.
I was wondering what everyone else uses for a power supply. Do you have to buy a new power cord with it??

Cheers, Angus

I use the power cord which came with my heq5 pro in combination with Skywatcher 17Ah power tank. The peak power cosumption of this mounts is around 2 ampers so 17Ah gives me enough power for the night.

Most popular are the jump start battery packs from automotive and discount stores. Look in Walmart in the U.S. and Asda in the UK.

You could use an AC adapter. Ie. 2.1+Amps at 12V-13v with a tip of I believe 2.1mm with a "+" center at the tip.

I use the 7Ah Celestron Power Tank. It works great and has two "cigarette lighter" ports and a few others, along with a red light and very bright spotlight.

Thanks for all your help. I ended up getting a 12V DC 10A jump start battery from a local hardwear store. Works fine with my mount.

I've been using a Harbor Freight jump box without issues for all nighters, except when I add the dew-zapper.

I'm going to go with a deep cycle marine battery in the future, but for now I am using a small spare car battery just for the dew-zapper.

I have the various power supplies mentioned above, but when I am at home I prefer the AC "Wall wart" power supply. I think it is available through Orion.

If you want reliable AC power take a look at one of these.
