Green Bank watching the Sun

There were several solar telescopes at the Green Bank Star Quest last week but very little was happening on the Sun, as most of you know.

Bob Dutilly, a retired project manager who worked on SOHO at Goddard Spaceflight Center, gave a couple of interesting and educational presentations on the Sun and spaceweather. When he was talking about the current solar minimum, he mentioned that the radio telescope at Green Bank had recorded an uptick in solar activity. Indeed, the 40 foot dish at Green Bank is daily trained on the Sun from sunrise to sunset. Here's a pic I took last Saturday at sunrise...

Erika, the workshop was fun. I'm going to post a report about it in the Sketching forum as soon as I get a chance.
