Prom Sketch 2009-07-03 18:00UT - NE

This is the North Eastern prominence drawn by Stephen Ames earlier today. His was at 12:00UT mine, 18:00 (11am PDT). I was using a Binoviewer which both helps and hurts.
  • No matter what it has some multiplication factor. 1.2x, 1.6x, and 2.5x IIRC.
  • Of course it also dims the image which is great for surface details. Not so good for prominences.
  • And it seems to accentuate the effects of seeing more than just the higher magnification would seem to warrant.

But it does let one really relax and concentrate. This prominence was so big and bright, that when seeing allowed, the dimmer image was not a big factor. And it is nice to be able to switch powers with the slide of a lever.

So this is my interpretation
Drawn with a PRISMACOLOR white pencil, scanned to PhotoShop, despeckled, contrast, added text and Solar disk...
