Folks:

FYI - If I don't respond to you directly, please know that I'm not ignoring your badge request. Everyone that requests one in this thread will get one.

We (the mod & admin crew - including us retired old foggies) are still hashing out the final format (there have been changes - Alan T ("Gone caving") has given me permission to use the official ASAE logo (Thanks, Alan!)); I'll post an example here once we figure out which end is up...

I'd sure like a badge...planning to purchase a ticket at the box office.
Thx,

Hey folks,

I happen to be flying into Tucson on the 10th. My ETA is right at noon. Assuming no major hang-ups, hopefully I can stop in between 1 and 2?

Regardless, please count me in for a badge. I will buy my tickets at the box office.

Eric

Folks:

I started a badge request thread here, with a current list of ASAE attendees who've already asked for one. Please post badge requests there.

Thanks.

I'm not seeing a lot about this locally yet. Tucsonans do seem to like a good weekend event, though. I have mentioned it to coworkers.

I agree Rich, this came up at work (the University) as well...there does not seem to be any intentional local marketing of this expo....word of mouth only.

I hope there is some marketing planned for here in Tucson as there are many amateur astronomers, space enthusiasts and those interested in general science who are not in the usual circles where this info is being shared (like CN), that would likely attend.

WOW... what in the world was I thinking? I should have looked here for some posts on the ASAE! I was reading the website info and wanting more of a "feel" of this event.

My wife and I might be there (pending empty seats), and please do not think I am spoiled, because what we do not pay monetarily- we pay for in anxiety. I did not note this event early enough to really plan it out, but what an excuse to go back to AZ and sunny skies! We have plans but my job does not allow me to make definitive plans, but I need to talk with many of you (and some vendors). What a better place than the South West!

RE: within 11 months the Mrs and I will be purchasing a large DOB and we will love to have viewpoints and opinions of Teeters/Obssessions/Starmasters thrown our way.

Thanks, Frank (from eternally cloudy Cleveland area)

Frank,
Be sure to stop by our booth! We'll have an 18" F/4.5 on display that we shipped out ahead of us, thanks to Alan Traino and Lunt Solar. They allowed the vendors to stockpile their merchandise in their warehouse prior to the show. Otherwise we wouldn't have had a scope to show, or we would've had to make the cross-country hike with our merchandise in tow, which isn't really high on either my or my wife's "bucket list" of things to do. ;-)

We're flying out Friday morning from Jersey and can't wait for the show - should be a great event!

Al was just on the radio at http://astronomy.fm/ I just caught the tail end but excellant outreach by Mr. Traino as always,

Alan, I envy your motivation, enthusiasm and selflessness in promoting astronomy. A mere mortal couldn't do what you do.

Just got in. Crosswinds are fierce. Lots of blowing dust.
For anyone driving in (and everyone else, for that matter): Safe trip.
