If you can but it together and get it off the ground that would be great. I'll bring this up at our next club meeting, High Desert Astronomy Club of Kingman AZ. I'm confident that many of our members would be willing to attend. Tucson's a great place, sounds like a nice "away trip" with perhaps side trips to the mirror lab, Kitt Peak or Mt. Lemmon weather permitting.
Keep us posted,
Bert

Lightbucket,
You can bring this back to meeting....
One of the last things Don Pettit did before closing up shop for his return to earth this weekend was accept my invitation for the Arizona Science & Astronomy Expo.
It's on in the biggest way. don't know any other way....... oh and Sorry about the moon . I'll do better next year. LOL

Thanks Alan
I've spoken with the Club president and he will add the Expo to our New Business section of the monthly meeting.
Thanks for heads up regarding Dr. Pettit. I've bring that up at the meeting.
Your name seems very familiar. Did you make a trip to Bullhead City to pick up a few scopes about three years ago?
Thanks again,
Bert

We met. Wes was my astronomy mentor. I have three of his Tele Vues, the Nagler and 2 Ethos.
You're familiar with the scope menagerie Wes had. I spent my early formative period viewing through those instruments.
You could say I grow up viewing through those 3 Tele Vues. Thanks for making the deal happen. Those eye pieces have great sentimental value to me - far beyond their monetary value.
Thank you,
Bert

Thanks for giving this a shot, Alan. I almost pulled tyhe trigger on NEAF this year but decided I could find a better use for the ~$800 it would cost me just getting and staying there. But this one, I'm gonna try to make. Tucson is way more familiar to me than NYC area (my folks lived there for 25 years). Hope to see you there!

Good luck; that's a tough time of the year to get people to travel.
Not really IMO. Anyone that knows the climate of that part of Arizona may well tell you May,June,July,August, September and most of October are not the time to come to the desert. I'd have to pass as well.
I think it's a great time of the year.

Winter is definitely the time to be in Tucson. Just ask any snowbird you know. Now is not the time to be here in the desert, believe me.

Phoenix and southern AZ is not the place to visit from around May till about October. If you are not used to the heat and crazy monsoon storms (especially in Tucson). The winter time in AZ is awesome though. I am excited to be coming home for this show!

New moon is the following Tuesday. It seems odd that they would schedule the show for dark of the moon weekend. Most shows avoid that unless they are trying to have associated star parties. It makes me have second thoughts about going.
