Hi all
I started this last weekend as the first stage of a deep image with the Orion Mak-Newtonian. The weather hasn't cooperated since so I decided to process what I had so far. It's only 2 hours worth of 150 second 800 iso subs from the Mag 4.5 skies of my backyard. So far I'm very happy with the results!

Thanks for looking Bob

Thanks Gary. I know what you mean about processing this guy. This is my third attempt with three different scopes, the others were with a C11 and ED80. Hopefully the third one will be the charm!

Terrific M33 Bob. You didn't mention using a coma corrector. If that's the case that Orion Mak-Newt seems to be the best out-of-the-box imaging scope out there any where near it's price range.

Careful what you say when astro-junkies and their wallets are within earshot
Images like this one make me want to order right now. I particularly like how tight the stars are, and several faint spirals that can be seen in the background.

I don't want to create any controversy over imaging scopes here but I would like to let fellow imagers know that there is a new, quality, OTA to consider (a least my copy is so far). A few points to consider: I have never collimated a Newtonian variant OTA before and the collimation was done only with a sight tube and the provided collimation cap. I believe a star collimation will improve the results. The field is flat to the edge out of the box without correctors or flatteners (a compared to my NP101 images). I have had some minor corner distortion but credit this to slight camera misalignment. There was no star reduction procedure done on this pic. Bahtinov mask focused just before imaging, it held focus for 2+ hours. Also I had some guide error due to a worn worm block bearing in my CGE which shows up as a slight elongation in the tiny stars.
Tomorrow night looks good for imaging. I'll see if I can duplicate what I got in the first set of subs.

That's a great M33, Bob! Well processed, and pinpoint stars across the entire FOV to boot. The field flatness and aperture make the Mak-Newt a very enticing scope, and I wish anyone who's now considering buying a new scope the best of luck making a decision, with the RCs, ACFs, Edge HDs and Mak-Newts to choose from nowadays!
