ETX-70 'sees' deep again
      #2318992 - 04/11/08 04:43 AM Attachment (59 downloads)

Another good imaging session last night via the piggybacked ETX-70 into the 'early hours' when the cold finished me off. Included Leo 1/2 dwarf galaxies, globulars M3/53 + N5053, galaxies N4565/4725 all in CVn, M104 [Sombrero] and quasar 3C273 in Vir, galaxies N3044/3115 in Sextans - a busy evening but don't know if they'll 'come out ok'

Here's the first - globulars M53 and within same field feeble NGC 5053 where the brightest stars peak at mag 14 - and they're there

Thanks Matt - wonder how many stars in M3 can be 'seen' with a 70mm OG Here's remote [but brightest] quasar 3C273 in Virgo some 2BLY distant. It's brightness is variable from a typical mag 12.7 but seems in this unfiltered shot at a brightish mag 12

You gotta love that image of M104, considering it taken using "our" little 70mm acro scope.Well done!

Thanks OD, Dale, Walter and Kenny for your interest After some Meade DSI pics [separate post] catching-up with the SX CCD series on 12 April. The moon troublesome for some DSO fields nearby - here's a Mars + moon montage but they weren't that close together but both to same scale shows the relative field of the SX cam on the ETX-70 at native f/5

Here's a real DSO - the tiny Eskimo planetary nebula very close to the moon - inset and enlarged shows its non-stellar appearance via the ETX-70

x2

are you autoguiding with the lx200.
what kind of exposure lengths are you using.
that is pretty sweet from a lil etx70.

The ETX is piggybacked on the LX200 and driven in RA but not guided - the short sub exposures [recorded in top-line of the pic header] are co-added automatically via the camera software plus a later contrast stretch/titled and post here
