Okay everybody we had a thread with the same title that went over a thousand posts, well when threads get that long they get a little hard on the software so here is a restart of that same thread.
So everyone, what is in your eyepiece case.
Well for me I have the following
40mm MK70 (University Optics) 27mm Panoptic (Televue--enroute thanks Greg!) 22mm Panoptic (Televue) 17mm LVW (Vixen) 14mm XW (Pentax) 12mm Nagler T4 (Televue) 10mm XW (Pentax) 8mm Plossl (Televue) 7mm XW (Pentax) Maxbright diagonal (Astro-Physics)
So that is what I have collected over about 3 years of buying, selling and trading.
Go ahead and post what you have, pictures are welcome, just remember the image posting guidelines.

Thinking of selling the 21mm Stratus, and a few others that are currently stashed away in a drawer, to fund the purchase of a Pentax XW 20mm.

This eyepiece needs a case of it's own. It's a 100mm Erfle with a 70 degree fov and belongs to a good friend of mine.

100 mm Erfle...WOW. What scope does that work in???
I've got the following:
3 Sirius 25 mm's 3 Sirius 10 mm's (Thanks Orion, for bundling those with the scopes...I've got enough for binoviewing if I go down that road) 1 Highlight 32 mm 1 Highlight 20 mm 1 Highlight 17 mm 1 Highlight 12.5 mm 1 Expanse 20 mm 1 Expanse 15 mm 1 Expanse 9 mm 1 Expanse 6 mm 1 Paul Rini 30 mm
On order: 1 5 mm TMB Planetary. I was hoping it would get here today, but it hasn't come yet and the USPS tracking site is USELESS. All it says is "Electronic Shipping Info Received" and it has said that since Wednesday.
I've also got the Orion Tri-Mag and Shorty Barlow Plus, the variable polarizer, a 13% moon filter, a color filter set, an ultrablock, an OIII filter, and a V-Block filter for the Short Tube.

Mine.
Eyepieces laid on its side are the ones I use the most on my 22" f/4. The 22" is the scope I use the most, more than 95% of the time. They are...
20mm Pentax XW - finder eyepiece
10mm Tak LE
7.5mm Tak LE
5mm Tak LE
The rest are used as necessary. They are...
35mm Panoptic - top center
13mm Ethos - unlabeled eyepiece on 2nd row -
9mm Nagler - 2nd row at the right, next to the Ethos
4,5, 7, 9 and 12mm TMB Supermonocentric (the 12mm is lent to a friend) - second to bottom row.
2.8 and 3.6mm Tak LE - bottom row
Oh, the Paracorr is not used much, only for public viewing of low power eye candy. The 2x Televue Big Barlow hasn't been used in many many years. I don't know why I still have it.
On the left are three popular filters which I had for almost 20 years. They are Lumicon O-III, H-beta and Orion Ultrablock (the original). I don't know why I have the orange filter sitting in my case without a case. I don't use it, somehow it ended up there.

Soon to be joined by a 35mm Panoptic or 22mm Nagler if I decide to pick one up at the TSP in a couple of weeks. And, maybe, an Ethos will join my collection in a few months' time (a 13mm Ethos would replace my 11mm and 15mm Plossls).

I broke my addiction to TeleVue Naglers (6) and bought a 22 Panoptic and two Plossls in the sale. And i feel better for it.

My lineup has mostly changed since my post a couple years ago in the previous thread:
40mm WO SWAN 30mm 1rpd 24, 17, 13, 8mm Hyperions 9, 6, 3.2, 2.5mm BO/TMB Planetaries 7, 4mm WO UWANs
8-24mm Hyperion zoom 5-8mm Speers-WALER zoom (first version)
However all my previous EPs still live in another case and I try them out on occasion. Except for 1 or 2 klunkers they're all pretty good, just with narrower AFOVs. And none are particularly expensive so instead of reselling, they're probably better used as star party EPs or to lend/give to newbies w/limited funds.

When the 17mm T4 arrives, I will have the following EPs that I use all the time:
31mm T5 22mm T4 17mm T4 2x 2" Big Barlow (for 11mm and 8.5mm equivalents) 7mm XW 6.5-19mm Pentax zoom 1.8x 1.25" TV barlow
Plus the seldom-used 15mm TV plossl 3x 1.25" TV barlow 8-24mm Baader zoom
Still trying to sell the Baader zoom.

My ocular collection is little, but fabulous for me.
Left to right: Pan 35, Pan 24, Radian 6, Ultima 12.5, Nagler 16 T5 and Hyperion Baader Zoom.
Notes:
- There are two RKE 15mm on the way.
- There are two Tele Vue plössl 20mm no showed.
- I'm going to replace the nagler 16 for the Ethos 13 (same field stop).
- The Ultima is gone.
- I don´t have any decent eyepiece case yet.

Boy do I feel like an under achiever with just my small three piece collection. At some point I plan on adding an 11mmT6, replacing the 9mm TMB with a 9mmT6 (for no other reason than to keep with the green color scheme) and maybe something a little higher power (for those rare above average seeing nights) or replacing my Meade cheapy barlow. Frankly though, I don't feel I'm missing anything.

30mm Antares Modified Erfle
17, 13, and 8mm Baader Hyperions
8, 6, and 4mm BO/TMB Planetaries
Almost one year to the date when I got my first Hyperion, I added two more today (13 and 8mm). Here's my first post to either this or the original thread.
With two 14mm tuning rings, I can acheive 6 and 5mm with the 8mm Hyperion...in that case, the 8 and 6mm BO/TMBs might be out the door this summer sometime to a new home...it's going to take a lot of comparing first. I'm afraid to let go of them and regret it because it's no simple task these days to get your hands on these EPs!

Well what do we have here in this little old Pelican 1300 case?

Oh, look at that, just landed in Auckland, the first-born in the Ethos range.

Is this the first TV EP to come in fitted foam? I don't think (though I might be wrong) even the Terminagler comes in anything other than bubble.
Notice how the top half of the foam fits nicely on the empty side of the case. I'm thinking the 8 Ethos will fit nicely there ;-} I just called TV to ask them if they packaging would be the same, but they didn't know. I hope it is.
Here is my 1.25 inch EP kit, complete with Glatter and Catseye collimation gear (Teletube XL is in another bag).

I have a Baader 24mm on order also. Why are the Baader Hyperions so hard to get, i.e. so few astro stores carry the line? You'll probably get your 24mm before I get mine; seeing as you live in the great State of Idaho--while I live in Kansas with its Pony Express system!!

I guess I am the only person here who will never own a Nagler eyepiece - it's just too "bandwagony" for me..
Well I do own the 2.5x Powermate. And soon I think, a Paracorr. And one day, I WILL own an NP127, the best telescope on the planet.
Me - complete sets of Meade 5000 UWAs, 4000 Plossls, and University Optics classic Orthoscopics. And that's all I need, ever, barring catastrophe.

Updates - from my seat on the bandwagon....
The case is nearly full, it has one 1.25" spot open and I have a plan for it.....
To fill up the 2" side (nature abhors a vacuum you know...) I picked up a couple of old, out of style. stale, clearly inferior, nearly useless, yesterday's news, pedestrian, old hat, Type II Naglers, the 20mm and the 12mm. Gosh, they're so old that photons will hardly pass through them... But they are a perfect match for my Old Eyes.

I've always wanted a nice matching set of quality eyepieces. Alas! I've ended up with a hodgepodge of eyepieces that all fit into this huge pluckfoam aluminum case. But, if you gotta know....... And, I really need to get rid of some of these. If you know anyone that is short of cash and needs some reasonably priced (free!), reasonable quality eyepieces, I'd be willing to donate.

Thanks. None yet. I bought one of the first 13E's, then TV changed the housing to make them more bv friendly. I'm still a little peeved about that.

That's because each eyepiece serves as dominant a role in the quality and versatility (or specialization) of your optical train as does your telescope itself. However, even the most expensive premium eyepiece (Naglers, Pentax, etc) are apiece, much cheaper than a premium telescope of any type, except perhaps in small spotting scope sizes. So yes, a 13 Ethos or 26T5 Nagler seem expensive on the order of $600 USD new, but consider what each give you compared to what you can get in the way of a $600 telescope (before any eyepieces, mounts, etc). Such a bargain! Looked at that way. You get a tremendous amount of bang for your buck when you add another good eyepiece to your lineup that does anything (magnification, TFOV, AFOV exit pupil, contrast, etc) noticeably better than anything you already have for given objects or conditions.
Every time I've parted with a chunk of hard-earned $$$ for adding another quality eyepiece to my lineup, I'm temporarily seized by angst and guilt - am I mad? Am I a fool in need of more prudent sensibilities, perhaps even friendly intervention, to stop this compulsive, addictive behavior? BUT when I get my first good look through my new glass under decent night skies...it's HAPPY HAPPY JOY JOY. Bah humbug to the naysayers.

I dunno. My 8" f/6 has premium optics and it was $500 delivered in 2000. So does my 5" f/12 refractor, bought used in 2003 (okay, that needed a $700 mount.) I doubt I could get one of those ZAOs for that price.

So far i have a small but what i think "balanced" set of ep´s.
5mm Baader Ortho. This one showed me something on Mars more than orange blur finally. Baader makes very nice ep´s.
32mm Celestron Omni Plossl, it feels like a solid ep and have given great views.
25mm Celestron Plossl that came with my Omni XLT. Another nice ep.
6.5mm generic Plossl. This one has given some good views at times, but i´m not that found of it. Barlowed to 308x it has impressed me on Saturn every now and then.
18mm Orion Kellner, often the one i start with on the Moon. Pehaps my favourite ep. These Kellners work great in my scope.
10mm generic Kellner, works fine in my scope.
20mm Huygens. A real interesting ep. These old designs can deliver surprisingly good views. Narrow fov, the full moon barley fits in the ep. Takes a bit of focusing to get the whole moon sharp at times. But i really like this one. Barlows great i can tell you. On axis sharpness is as good as any ep i have.
Generic 1.5-2x Barlow. I get some reflections from it in some ep´s. But it´s ok.
Baader Orange filter bought for Mars. It did work for me.
Variable Polarizing Moon filter. Good to have at times.
Wanted list for some oldie ep´s:
R, SR, HM, MH and some RKE´s.

That 40mm is a Beast. Its as large of an eyepiece as I have ever owned.
Its about 1 1/2 Baader Hyperions put together. But it does have a nicely corrected(in longer focal length scopes)60 degree Field of View.
So for turning my C-6(150mm F= 1500mm)into a "widefield" scope it does an outstanding job.

Hi all
I've updated my collection recently (don't we all...) so thought I'd re-list just for the heckuvit.
Most are listed in the sig line but here's my complete arsenal (including the ones I am waiting to be delivered):
Brandon Eyepieces:
48mm, 32mm, 24mm (2), 7/8", 16mm, 8mm (2), 6mm, and the rare 4mm (built from 60's optics)
Vernonscope 2.4X Dakin Barlow
Gailand: 7mm, 16.3mm(THE Galoc eyepiece)
Intes Bertele: 18mm
Siebert Optics:
24mm Ultra ep's (2)
Black Knight Bino-Viewer
4X-8X telecentric Barlow, 0.5X-1X-2X Power Wheel
Astro-Tech SWF Titans: waiting for delivery of 10mm, 15mm, 20mm, 26mm, 32mm, 38mm
Zeiss Abbe Orthoscopic-II: waiting for delivery of new set which includes: ZAO-II 4mm,8mm,10mm,16mm and 2x ZA Barlow
I hope to be able to do a complete and critical report on Brandon vs ZAO-II in slow scope (f/10)
Of course taking delivery of this much new equipment guarantees that we will never have clear skies again here in Cleveland, the land of photon-rich skies, even when they are clear.
Clear skies

Here is my case,
Full set of Vixen LVWs,
TV 32mm Plossl,
18mm Celestron Ultima (fantastic eyepiece, but 17mm LVW is used far more),
5.5mm Meade 5000 Plossl (replaced by 5mm LVW),
Televue 2x, 2.5x and 3x barlows,
Moon filter,
coloured filters,
Meade Narrowband filter
Astronomik UHC, OIII and H-Beta Filters.
I also have an Orion 7.5mm plossl and a few GSO plossls lying around but they are not used. Only the worn out ex-binocular tube finderscope on my 12" sees usage from those plossls.
I got the Astronomik Filters in January, but the H-beta STILL hasn't been used thanks to weather and uni. Woke up at 6.30am this morning, saw Rigel rising......only a couple of months till I get to try it on the Horsehead!

Very well said. I tell people that the eyepiece is half the telescope. If one puts in a cheap Chinese eyepiece on a Zambuto mirror equipped telescope or a high-end refractor can do it some injustice.
Sometimes I think that the eyepiece is really a third of the whole optical train, mirrors is one third, eyepiece the middle third and the human eye, including corrective lens is the last third. I now observe without my contacts...and just flip my glasses on when using my quikfinder.

Hi Rob;
Yes I do,but for now I'll share the one between the two eyepieces, for now I would just like to get a clear night to observe, and use the 8E
Clear skies.
Wouldn't we all!!!
I have taken the scope out back to cool now. It's clear, but by the time I get out it'll probably cloud over. If it doesn't, i'll be looking at Omega Centauri at 75 degrees elevation. And Eta C is 65, so should be nice.
I'm a bit gutted about the 8E needing 11 more out-travel than the 13E. But still, I have both, so can't really complain, can I.
Rob.

Beautiful eyepiece collections.
Don I believe you could open a retail store for eyepieces with the collection you have. I certainly can say Cloudy Night members know how to select Great Eyepieces.
Thanks to all of you that have shown or listed your collections. Now I need a towel to wipe the druel off of my chin looking at all of these beauties.

To what extent to the 26 Nagler and 22 Nagler seem to serve usefully distinct, complementary roles in your current lineup, and to what extent (if any) do they seem (to you) more redundant than you'd ideally like? I acquired a 31T5 Nagler in addition to the 26T5 I'd had for awhile, and of course a similar question could be asked about this combo - which I answered to my own satisfaction after several nights use of both (31T5 is truly magnificent, but hang onto that 26T5 unless I someday *really* need the money, as it performs much better in light-polluted skies, and has a tad better contrast even in darker skies).
Also, that is a curious-sounding statement: "22mm T4 Nagler (sometimes a 20mm T1 Nagler)" - I'm impressed with your powers of transformation - why not sometimes turn your 26 Nagler into a 31?
I know what you meant, I'm just playing with you.

Hi Chris,
The 26mmT5 and 22mmT4 Naglers are a bit close (redundant) but depending on which particular scope I drag out, sometimes one is preferred over the other. That's why I often swap the 22mmT4 for the 20mmT1. But then you have the same question about the 20mmT1 and the 17mmT4, right? Of course the 26mmT5 Nagler and 30mm Leitz are somewhat akin to your 26mmT5 and 31mmT5 Nagler. For me, each has it's own personality. Depanding on the scope and the object I'm observing, I'll select one or the other. I had a 31mmT5 Nagler for many years along with the Leitz 30mm and Clave 30mm. After a long time I hadn't used the 31mmT5 at all preferring the Leitz for most objects and the Clave for a couple particular targets. I guess the best answer to your question is I choose the eyepiece based on the particular scope and object I am observing with. Sometimes I swap to see which gives a better image.

WOW! And I thought I had too many ep's. You peoples is LOADED! Here is my list for my 10" Dob...not much...but hey I'm only 15. When I'm 40, I guess I'll have a 16" Truss and 20 Televues! Antares 2x Barlow 6.7mm Meade 3000 Plossl 10mm Orion Explorer II Ocular 17mm Orion Explorer II Ocular 25mm Meade 3000 Plossl ( My Favorite, especially when in the Barlow ) 25mm Orion Explorer II Ocular ( On ebay right now ) 40mm GSO SmartAstronomy Plossl ( On ebay right now ) 1.25" Orion SkyGlow LP Filter Not much, but considering what I have had ( Huygens and SR's with my Meade 114 ), it's a great collection. My favorite ep's are the 3000 25mm, 17mm Explorer, and the Barlow. I like the 6.7mm, and the 10mm is nice too. I guess there is no ep I don't like, except the 40mm. I'll get that 32mm Celestron after I sell those 2 ep's.

All 1.25" eyepieces, but I hope to buy the Orion Rack and Pinion, then get the Focuser wheels, swap them for the Radial design they have. It would be nice knowing I have an adapter for 2" ep's, and some day, I'll get that 2" GSO 42mm. Is 68 degrees FOV good for a 2"? It would give my scope a 2.5 degree FOV, but the Dob base may not handle the extra weight!

Wow, I have like NO eyepieces. My paltry collection includes:
Current: Stellarvue 2" 30mm Vixen LVW 22mm Vixen LVW 13mm Nagler Type 6 5mm
Soon to purchase: Nagler Type 6 7mm Vixen LVW 3.5mm
That should take care of my needs. Maybe a 35 Panoptic much later for low-power sweeps.

Here's my current EP-related equipment:
(back row, L to R): 31T5 Nagler, 26T5 Nagler, 17T4 Nagler, 13 Ethos, 8 Ethos, TV Parcorr.
(middle row, L to R): 13T6 Nagler, 11T6 Nagler, 9T6 Nagler, 7T6 Nagler, 5T6 Nagler, 2.5x TV Powermate.
(front row, L to R): 1.25" variable polarizing filter, 1.25" and 2" UB filters, 1.25" and 2" OIII filters, 1.25" skyglow filter, 2" variable polarizing filter.
This current EP lineup may to some, seem to be curiously redundant around some focal lengths. If I was starting over from scratch with enough funds to create a similar-quality collection, I would indeed likely be somewhat more minimalist and also perhaps make a different choice in a couple of spots. But sometimes, the history of how one went about building an EP collection to a given snapshot in time can be more interesting than what's actually in it currently, given that most of us have seen (in photos or person) Naglers and Ethoses countless times by now. What I've currently got makes more sense when the sequence of acquisition is considered. Everything in the photo was bought one item at a time over a three year + period, always separated by a few weeks or months from the next item:
11T6, 7T6, 17T4, 26T5, 5T6, 9T6, 13T6, TV Parcorr, TV 2.5x Powermate, 13 Ethos, 31T5 Nagler, 8 Ethos.
I feel no particular need to unload any particular EP, despite some arguable redundancy, I still find times I enjoy using each particular one as the seemingly best choice for the the particular object, the overall panoramic field, or my mood as to how I'd prefer the object or starfield to be framed at a given moment. My 17T4 doesn't get used nearly as much since I got the 13E, but there are enough situations where the somewhat less oceanic AFOV of the 17 seems to frame an object or starfield more pleasingly than the Ethos; ditto the 13T6. I'd never buy a 13T6 if I had the Ethos first, but...already having the 13T6 first, I feel no compelling need to get rid of it.
While there's a couple of *very* non-urgent possibilities for additions/changes to this lineup (e.g. trying a 22T4 Nagler as a more optimal gap-filler between the 31T5 and 17T4 or 13 Ethos than the 26T5)...I can truly say I'm pretty well done with my EP collection. I know, never say never...but I cannot imagine what else it might be.

I now have the collection divided between two cases - the majority of the collection + my filters etc. go in the yellow Storm 2400 case, but I keep the 31T5, 13 Ethos, and 8 Ethos in the green LowePro Photo-Equipment case (which is very sturdily padded and has surprisingly rigid casing for a canvas-covered bag). Note my Pocket Sky Atlas and two planispheres to the right on the chair, which fit under the foam lining of the lid of the Storm Case.

Wow Chris, with all that nice glass, gotta get a better scope. How about a Starmaster or Obsession or any custom scope with a premium mirror?

Aaaaahhhh.... Ya got a couple I've been looking for a loooong time... the TMB SMC 14mm and 16mm. I have the 4, 5, 7, 9 and 12mm and love them. But I'm a DSO observer with a couple large dobsonions as listed below.
Yeah, the 130mm APO is an imaging scope. Folks tell me that I should use it to look at planets, but my 22" buries it.
Since I'm posting on this thread...my lineup is the same.
My most used scope is the 22" reflector (> 95%), so comments below reflect that.
35 Panoptic - used only in my 6" Antares for widefield sweeping. 20 Pentax XW - main finder eyepiece in my 22" 12.5 Tak LE 10 Tak LE - first eyepiece used once DSO is in field. This and the 7.5 and 5mm are the most used eyepieces, more than 95% of the time. 7.5 Tak LE - most used medium power 5 Tak LE - most used medium-high 2.8 and 3.6 Tak LE - use it if even higher power needed 4, 5, 7, 9 and 12 TMB SMC - use to resolves finer detail of DSO's, such as tight companions of parent galaxies, detail on PNe's 13 Ethos - rarely used 9 Nagler T6 - not used
I leave the Mickels 1.25" collet based adapter in my focuser of my 22" all the time. That's why I don't use the 13 Ethos. I don't use the Nagler as it shows far less than the Taks.
All of my observing buddies shudder when I tell them that my friend and I are planning cut off the 2" skirt from our Ethos. Why?!?!?!? I don't like to pull the fantastic Mickels adapter everytime I use it. If it works out, I will do the same to my future 8mm Ethos.

Alternatively, could you send it to TV and have them do it for you?
I'm considering a fast 22" Dob, so I might PM you Alvin for your thoughts.....
....okay, back on topic. This pic includes my usual set (excludes some misc. plossls, barlows, etc.). TMB SMC 4,5 and 7mm; XW 3.5, 5, 7 and 10mm; Nagler 31, 26, 22, 17, 13mm and an E13.

Hello Shawn. My case is a Storm iM2300 and yes it's pluck foam.I'm actually considering buying new foam for it as my collection has finally stabilized somewhat. The lid has a single layer of egg-crate style foam and the bottom has a layer of foam with two layers of pluck-foam on top. It's an excellent case and is very much like if not almost identical to a Pelican case in style, functionality and quality.

My meager eyepiece collection is as follows:
32mm Astrola 2in(came with my DSH10) 25mm sirius plossl (came with my 1st scope) 10mm sirius plossl (also came with my 1st scope) 9mm astrola plossl (came with my DSH10) 20mm Orion Expanse (apparently the worst performer of the series) 7.5mm Orion Ultrascopic (the only quality eyepiece I own) ultima 1.25mm 2x barlow Orion ultrablock.
Soon to arrive: 25mm & 12.5mm sterling plossls.

Just to put the cat amongst the pidgeons...
This may be the most expensive eyepiece ever!
This is an eyepiece used on one of our movie cameras - my boss thought that I might like to try it on my 'scope..
So 20 mins on the lathe to make the adaptor I now have this baby...
I only managed a quick look at the 3/4 moon last night before the clouds rolled back in. I reckon it's about 30mm.
FOV is narrowish but it blew my 28mm RKE out of the water.
This is sharp! Can't wait for a really clear night...
Oh, in case you want one, list price is over 1200 UK Pounds..
The eyecup will set you back another 350 (heated 550)...

You will see in my sig, not very expensive EPs, but the best I can afford. They have all given me pleasure over the years. If your on a tight budget I would highly recomend the Antares super pos. The Celestron kit was given to me as a present. And to be honest never gets used. They just don't have the contrast the Antares have. The barlow is useless.
I list every piece of kit in the sig including EPs so anyone considdering them can ask what they are like.

I cut up some of that white foam (like the 13 Ethos comes packed in) and put it in as the middle layer in my Plano case, with my 1.25 inch EP's. The stock foam is too soft and the EP's were not supported, so would move around in the case.
I didn't have a big sheet of foam, but cobbled smaller bits together - it's rough, but it was free.

This time round I racked the eyecups out on my XW's to viewing position. When I had plucked the original foam, I hadn't actually used the EP's, and it was a drag swapping back and forth if you were using the case, as they never fitted in correctly when the cups were out (3 out of 5 turns for me).

First post here. I will upload pics (two cases) in time. The sig has all my eyepieces. There are good stories behind some if you like. I am changing focusers (Astrophysics 4in)next year, so will need new adapters for the big ones. The Leitz 65mm thru the 29" shows all the pleiades and then some. The Zeiss 100 makes the pleiades look small. M22 thru the Zeiss bino with the Masuyama 35s is a spiritual experience.

Thanks Mike. I am officially off the clock now and actually have time to do this. Love it. Here's the story on the Zeiss 100. BTW, I am a computer illiterate and have not learned yet how to upload pics. I'll ask my daughter to teach me. Anyhoo, the Zeiss 100 was purchased from Markus Ludes several years ago. He claims it came from an older German observation plane. It weighs 5lbs with focuser adapter and the clear aperture opening is a squeak under 4in. The lens body is abour 6in diameter. It has lots of eye relief and there is a sweet spot where, if your eye is there, it works great in my scope (29in). Now, here's the interesting point. All the lenses are plastic! Fully coated plastic. Markus estimated the apparent fov to be close to 90deg. I would agree. Hard to remember, but I think the actual fov is close to 3deg. I can see the trifid and lagoon easily at the same time thru the 29. The whole north american, and much of the veil also. You have to hold a nebula filter in hand to use one, but oh my! It is a gas to pan with it in sagittarius. A most unique and wonderful eyepiece. Plastic lenses. Who woulda thunk it!

Hi all
I've updated my collection recently (don't we all...) so thought I'd re-list just for the heckuvit.
Clear skies
Howard
Hi again
SO I didn't quite go the direction I thought I would -- check out my sig line for the complete list but the short story is: I got into Bino-Viewing. Really into it. The Siebert 24mm Black Knight is incredible with Brandon ep's sooooo:
Thus, I changed my mind and I didn't get the ZAO-II's. Instead I got a whole SECOND boxed set of Brandon ep's to use with the Bino-Viewer. Now I'm on Harry Siebert's list for the 40mm Echelon BV (his "ne plus ultra")
I do indeed have the Titans and they are nice ep's for the price without a doubt (not the equal of the Brandons but nice).
I am contemplating a pair of Ethoi 13's (maybe 17's, we'll see) for the new bino sometime in the springtime. Just to try out the new tech. Anyone have any thoughts on bino'ed-ethoi? (PM is fine if this isn't the right thread to discuss that subject).
I am still the absolute confirmed Brandon maniac though and proved again why with some amazing viewing with my 10"LX200R, binos, and Brandons at Last-Chance-Star-Party in October when we observed incredible things, including a gorgeous M33 unfiltered in amazing detail (thanks to marvelous Brandon contrast and sharpness) and several of us observed the fully resolved Trapezium g-star (along with e and f too). Blew us away. So the Brandons will always remain the top o' my heap.
Clear skies.
Howard

That's a wonderfully eclectic set Zachary, and I mean that as a compliment - there's some nice quality EPs there. We should indulge our freedom to be interestingly eclectic about stuff when we're young enough to get away with it, and then again when we're old enough that we no longer care what other people think about our tastes in things. Some lucky people manage to go directly from the first stage of life into the second.

OK...
I started off with 24, 17, 13, 8mm Hyperions. Sold those and purchased the line up in my sig line. Also had and just sold my 22mm T4 (really sweat ep). Once I get the Ethos 6mm I'll be happy, but then again I'm looking at getting a barlow and then be "happy"
Pictured is the wood case from Wood Wonders and some of the ep line up...

While there are other collections (set of Brandons, set of Meade 3000 Smoothie Plossls, set of Baader Orthos, set of Meade Vintage MAs, 2-sets of Owl Enhanced for Binoing, etc.), this is the "Workhouse" collection I use most. May have to add a 4mm or 5mm Radian, or both. And am toying with the idea of releasing the 15mm and 19mm Pans in favor of 12mm and 18mm Radians as I find their contrast a bit better, but will play with this setup for a while.
The List:
56mm - Meade 4000 Smoothie 5-Element Plossl (IMO the best in class for this FL)
35mm, 24mm, 19mm, & 15mm - TV Panoptics
10mm, 8mm, & 6mm - TV Radians
8mm, 7mm, 6mm, 5mm, 4mm - TMB Supermonocentrics (Lunar/Planetary Specialists)

Right now I only have an Orion Q70 32mm, a Stratus 13mm, a Hyperion 8mm and a Shorty barlow.
hopefully soon I'll be adding a 17mm Hyperion and upgrading the barlow to a powermate.

Wow! That is a thread. I don't feel so bad now. Being a solar observer means less glass is better and any actual field much larger than .5 degrees is only room to have the mount mis-aligned.
TV 25mm Plossl TV 20mm Plossl TV 15mm Plossl TV 11mm Plossl TV 8mm Plossl TV 5mm Nagler Cemax 12mm Vixen 8-20 Zoom TV 2.5x Powermate (for webcams) TV 5x Powermate (for webcams)
I just sold off my vintage RKEs and the rest of my Cemaxs. On my wish list is a 2mm-4mm Nagler zoom for planetary use as I rarely can get below 12mm in the poor daytime seeing.

Cases?
Where can I find YOUR case? I know some are Pelicans, but the other cases, where can I find them? If you have a good case, recommend it and tell me where I can find it!

Barry: Nice extremely high-quality minimalist set.
Just curious: You have cut out specific places for both the 22T4 and the 17E in your new case. The TFOV (true field of view) is only 5% larger in the 22T4 than it is in the 17E, whereas the 17E gives more magnification (and darker sky background/smaller, but still ample exit pupil).
Is there some worthwhile specific advantage the 22T4 still gives you over the 17E in your particular scope that motivates you to keep both (e.g. eye relief? According to TV specs, the 22T4 gives 19mm vs 15mm for the 17E)? Or are you like me - I still keep my 17T4 Nagler, despite also now having both the 17E and 13E (making for double-barrel redundancy for the 17T4)....because I simply still like it a lot and can't bring myself to let it go (even for the $300 used price).
BTW: I was within an hour or so myself of pulling the trigger on a used 22T4 in good condition on Astromart when I saw the initial TV announcement that the 17E was imminently (within a couple of months) forthcoming. Now I'll probably never get a 22T4, even though I really don't have any better rational reason for holding onto the 17T4 than I do for not getting the 22T4, in light of my other current holdings.
IF YOU DO at some point consider selling off the 22T4, a worthwhile replacement would be the 8E. I have a separate EP case with just the 31T5, 17E, 13E, 8E, and a 2x 2" TV Powermate - and there's many nights when that's an adequately self-sufficient set across most useable focal lengths, all by itself.

I'm just getting started but I got the Celestron eyepiece and Filter Kit 1.25" when I bought my used NexStar 8i SE
I'm being encouraged by a friend to buy a 2" kit but I've read pro & con about the benefits of 2" over 1.25" so I havent made up my mind.

My set includes:
Widefield: 35 Panoptic (finder), 13, 8 and 6(soon) Ethos. Once in a while I'll pop in the 20XW from the normal set.
Normal: 20 XW (finder), 12.5, 10, 7.5, 5, 3.6 and 2.8 Tak LE's Note that all are in 1.25" format as I like to leave my Mickel's 2"/1.25" adapeter in my focuser during the entire session.
High transmission/contrast for last bit of detail: TMB SMC in 12, 9, 7, 5 and 4mm lengths
Applies to all of my scopes in my sig line.
I tend to stay with one of the above sets for a session. I use the "normal" set most of the time. If I'm looking at eye candy which is pretty rare, I'll bust out the widefield set.

Thanks! I tried the 8E and it was just too much magnification for my scope (and that was on a night of very good seeing). Right now the 13E at 215x is the highest I use. I'd like to go higher, but I'm not sure that my scope and normal seeing will allow for much more magnification.

My collection has changed again:
Nagler T5 31mm Nagler T4 22mm Ethos 13mm Nagler T6 9mm Nagler T6 7mm Nagler T6 5mm Powermate 2.5x
I'm tempted to go for a 3.5mm T6 and dispense with the Powermate but I doubt I'll notice the difference.
I've only had the Ethos 13mm a matter of hours and already I'm thinking how the 8mm or 6mm Ethos might fit in .....

Thank you, Bill. Really it`s cool. Specially right now that I do have my complete setup in one case. All right! Almost my complete setup... My Pan24, Nagler 16, Baader Zoom, Binoviewers and the Telepod remain outside!

Funny you should say that, until recently I had all my eyepieces in several smaller soft cases and when I would travel to the dark site I would put those into a bigger case. I finally just broke down and bought a pelican 1600 to hold everything. But I could not see buying an expensive case for my dew controller so I just grabbed one of those metal tool cases from Lowes and ripped out the insides then I glued in felt and foam to make it look nice.

The case is a walnut case from Don at Vernonscope (home of Brandon eyepieces)
By all means send him the photo if you contact him at www.vernonscope.com if it helps him identify it.
i think it may be a case for the anniversary questar brandon set but its beautiful!
inside is plush lined with spaces for eyepieces.
i upgraded the brass wood screws on the rear hinges to stainless screws as the originals were not gripping the wood too good, now its perfect.

Depends on which case. For the kids Plossls 4,6,8,9,10,12,14,16,18,20,21,22,25,30,32mm. Lots of EPs becaquse they have a ball switching them. For young astronomers (grand daughter, and niece 10-12 YO) Enhanced 6, 9, 15, and 20mm, plus OWL/Agena 11 & 16mm UWA and some old wide view MAs mead and Celestron 9,10,13,15,17,&25mm for the smaller scopes. Add Owl's 15, 20 & 30mm 2" EPs for larger scopes. For star parties Hyperions 21, 17, 13, 8mm and a 38mm SWA. The MY CASE 26,22,16,12,7,6mm NAGLERS I'm thinking of adding a 5mm Hyperion to that case yet and a 4mm Nagler to MY CASE yet.

Bart and Donsell,
Thanks, I am not knocking the EP's the Hyperions are EXCELLENT as are the Zhummel Planetaries (Radian performance at 25% the cost), I was just stating that I have an inexpensive set compared to what some other people posted. There was a set with 10 Pentax EP's and there was another with 3 Ethos and 5 Naglers. What 3 Pentax or 2 Ethos cost is what I paid for my whole set (including the colimater, ultrablock, colored filters and cleaning kit and the Planisphere too)

I'm not posting this pic for the oculars within, but rather the great little case I found at Wal-Mart last evening. It is tall and as you see accomodates a nice cache of 1.25" oculars in boltcases along with the one 50 mm 2" ocular, filters and Barlow (under the 50 mm in a boltcase as well). I consider this $30 well spent.

OK, I am finally DONE collecting eyepieces. I've got what I need, don't need or want any more.
So all right, I'll keep my fingers crossed just a *little bit* about the prospective Ethos twenty-whatever, if and when it comes out. But unlike so many other folks here on CN, I'm not all full of pent-up eager excitement like a kid two days before Christmas anticipating something special from Santa Claus - I'm in no particular hurry to get one if and when it comes out. I'm quite happy with what I've got anchoring the low-power widefield "spacewalk" end of the spectrum.
Below, right to left, is my "starting team" of eyepieces:
31T5 Nagler
26T5 Nagler
17 Ethos
13 Ethos
10 Ethos
8 Ethos
6 Ethos
2" 2x Powermate.
In my 305mm aperture/1500mm focal length dob, they give me respectively, 48.4x, 57.7x, 88.2x, 115.4x, 150x, 187.5x, and 250x. With the 2" 2x Powermate I can use the 10E, 8E, and 6E to generate effective focal lengths of 5mm, 4mm, and 3mm, which last three focal lengths respectively yield 300x, 375x, and 500x (which is as far as I can ever anticipate the seeing realistically taking me on even the best of the best of nights). These EPs also work nicely in my 90mm aperture/621mm focal length refractor, though that doesn't produce nearly so useful a spread of magnifications or exit pupils between focal lengths as they do in my dob. The 26T5 and the 31T5 Naglers are both useful because the 31 gives the more magnificent views, but the 26 yields a smaller, more friendly exit-pupil when I have to make do with viewing in brighter skies.
The 10E is new today (my birthday is in a week) - I'll take first light in it tonight. It ought to be a galaxy/glob-killer!
