Much as I wasn't Mack-Daddy enough for the gold anniversary Brandons, I don't think that I am...er, "Man" enough for pink trimmed eyepieces.

Regards,

Jim

Here's my Denkemeier's EP series collection. What Denkmeier lacks in quantity, they more than make up for in quality. For me, these EP's feature some of the best attributes of simpler eyepieces, but in a widefield package. I still wish they made more focal lengths.

I originally posted this pic in another thread, but was asked to contribute to this thread as well. Vixen Orthos, Made in Japan, as they were sold in the mid-nineties. For the US Celestron imported them and sold them under their own label.

Something noteworthy, people who have disassembled them (not me!) found them to be symmetricals 2-2, not the 3-1 Abbe Orthoscopic recipe. Orthoscopic nonetheless, because they show minor to no image distortion.

My set is not complete yet, I am still missing the 6mm, 9mm, 18mm as well as the elusive 2" 40mm.

Cheers!

-André

Serious Orthoage.

Full sets of Apogee Super Abbe Orthos, Pentax SMC Orthos, University Abbe Orthos and Meade Research Grade Orthos together with a partial set of Pentax SMC Orthos and a couple Carl Zeiss Jena Orthos.

Regards,

Jim

Ok Jim,

Here are some more of those 2" Celestron Beauties.

From left to right...
25mm Ortho last run marked JAPAN only (most likely Vixen)
25mm Ortho first run marked Circle-Dash (Carton)
18mm Ortho first run unmarked barrel (most likely Carton)
32mm Erfle later run unmarked barrel (most likely Vixen)

The two in the center both came with their original boxes. The price stickers at $115 indicate these were sold new in 1984 (as this was the only time these were offered at this price). The 25mm Carton seems much older and may have been on the shelf for awhile before it found an owner.

Cheers!
Blake

Hi André

Here are my Celestron Flat Top Orthos (and one interloper) by Vixen from the early 1990's. These are silk screened with the Celestron logo and use the violet coatings.

Cheers!
Blake

This partial set marks the end of the Celestron/Vixen eyepieces. Probably sold new in the late 1990's. These have original Vixen markings that were obscured by a semi-permanent Celestron sticker. From left to right, a 25mm Vixen Ortho, a 12.5mm Vixen Ortho, and 26mm Vixen Plossl. Each has the Vixen green tinted AR coatings.

Cheers!

I just got the last one to complete my set of XCEL-LX eps from celestron. First time I have ever had an entire set of ep. One of my favorites that I bought years ago is my 35mm Ultima, using that one with an F5 scope give an amazing field of view.
