So Whats In YOUR Eyepiece Case
      #364854 - 03/05/05 05:23 PM

For me its the following
32mm UO Konig 2in (old style)
26mm Meade Series 4000 (smooth barrel 5 element )
22mm Celestron Silver Top Plossl (really nice eyepiece)
16mm UO Konig
15mm Meade Series 4000 (smooth barrel 5 element )
9.7mm Meade Series 4000 (smooth barrel 5 element )

I'm saving for a UO 40mm and a 25mm MK70 eyepieces... So post'em on up and tell us whatcha got Oh and pictures are welcome (just rememeber the size posting guidelines)

Panoptics 35
Nagler T5 16mm (I like it, despite the small eye relief and ring of fire - so there)
TV Plössl 11mm
Tak LE 7.5mm

Powermate 2.5x
TMB ED Barlow 1.8x

Visual Paracorr, but that's not really an eyepiece, is it?

There's also a Zeiss microscope eyepiece from the 1920s (.925 inch) - but I still have to recover it from someone else - his son moved out and took the eyepiece with him...it's totally uncoated but *darn* good.

And there are my trusted .925 eyepieces - a Huygens and a Ramsden (20 and 12.5mm), of course, for that extra bit of colour in the skies.

32mm Celestron plossl
20mm Burgess WA x2
19mm panoptic
13mm nagler t6
10mm Celestron ultima x2
9mm UO ortho
6mm Celestron plossl
TV 2x barlow
Burgess binoviewer

I actually dont plan on getting another ep for awhile. Maybe I'll pick up an 11mm tv plossl and an 8mm tv plossl somewhere along the line, but I'm pretty much set for now. Oh yeah, maybe a Siebert 24mm WA to replace the 32mm plossl.

Here's a pic. The flashed-out case houses an Orion narrowband filter. And in case you're wondering, the whole thing goes into a tool box, I just took it out for photographic purposes Everything stays quite snug and doesnt move around at all.

At the end of this thread someone should calculate the average amount spent of eps per person. We should also find the total, just to see if we can hit a million

30mm GSO Superview
30mm Ultima
25mm Astrola plossl
18mm Meade WA
14mm Meade 4000 UWA
12.5mm Orion Highlight plossl
9mm Astrola plossl
8.8mm Meade 4000 UWA
Orion shorty barlow

Most nights I just use the UWAs. I've found the 14mm UWA is wide enough that I don't need to use a low power finder EP very often. Occasionally I pop in one of the 30mm's for a low power view, but the rest are rarely used anymore. Thinking about maybe a 24 Pan or 22 Nag.

I have quite recently sold, given away and somewhat formalised my collection although I still seem to have ended up with three 25mm Plossls somehow, but at the time of typing this is the current list.

I have a mixture of Meade and Antares Plossls in 32mm, 25mm, 20mm, 15mm 12.5mm, 7.5mm, 6.7mm, 5mm and 4mm

I have a collection of old Orthos in 9mm, 7mm 5mm and 4mm as a planetary observer still by far my favourite eyepieces.

An unmarked 15mm Kellner plus the 12.5 Kellner that came with my PST

And finally a 10mm Antares SWA eyepiece….

Oh, and I keep them all in a felt lined wooden artists box

Pan 35
TV 32 Plossl
Pan 27
Nag 22
Nag 7 (type 6)
Nag 3-6 zoom
2x Powermate 2"
2.5 Powermate
TV 8-24 zoom
Scopetronix screw-in solar filter
Lumicon O-III filter 2"
Lumicon Deep Sky filter 2"
Lumicon variable polarizer 2"
Meade 1 1/4 13% neutral filter
Scopetronix 18mm wide field to screw onto the Nikon 995
Compass, a bubble level, and a red LED light
and my TV-85 is in there too!
It's a big Pelican case but it works for me.

Astigmatism forces me to select lenses very carefully because I have to wear glasses all the way down to 1mm of exit pupil. Below that, no glasses! So the wide fields with lots of eye relief in combination with the 2" Powermate let me fill in all the intermediate focal lengths. The 32mm and 8-24 zoom are really only used in my Tak FS60C which is left set up in the closet for those nights when I can see something from the back yard. The Scopetronix is only used for taking pictures. Had a Nag 31 but turned it back in for the Pan 35...just a better eyepiece for me. My favorite of the bunch...the Nag 22. Runner Up...3-6 zoom. At least 70% of my viewing is done through those two eyepieces. Thinking about a Collins I3 but have never used or looked through one in my scope and it would cost just about as much as all the other eyepieces combined...wonder if I would not be better off just getting an 10" Intelliscope?
