Well my E.S. 9mm 100º eyepiece is shipping today. I really wasn't sure about getting this eyepiece. I even canceled my original order to give me another week to think about it. So today I called Astronomics had a short discussion about the 9mm then put my order in. So they said the eyepiece which is now in stock will ship today. Really hoping I like this eyepiece. Mike

Well, judging by your sigline, you'll be using it in entirely different scope size/types than i do, but in my Dob the ES9-100 is a total killer! The FoV is immense, tho quite usable IMHO, and the quality is nearly Ortho-like! When i've viewed planets with it, it is only *slightly* edged out: 1) IF i replace it with a 10mm CZJ Ortho, and 2) IF the seeing conditions are quite good!
If there's one aspect that ain't quite perfect it's the eye-relief; with wearing eyeglasses i can just comfortably see the full field of my 13mm Ethos (rated at 15mm ER), whereas the 12.5mm ER rating of the ES9 is about right, and i can't quite get the full 100 with eyeglasses... tho prob'ly 90 of 'em. A minor nit, really.
Optically i'm VERY pleased with this EP! Here's hopin' you are, too! Please keep us posted once it arrives, and you've tried it a bit.

I do recommend if you use eyeglasses stay away from ES100 (9mm to 20mm - the 5.5 and 25mm versions I hope will have better useful eye-relief) or Ethos SX. With my Ethos 17 I can see 82 to 95% of the field of view (with and without rubber eyeguard, respectively), as opposite to <50% on an Ethos SX3.7 or an ES100 14mm... But I also mainly use these during day light and ER is even more important...

I was at an outreach event Saturday night and used nothing but 100° eyepieces (ES & Ethos). I asked everyone who wore glasses to remove them and focus for their eye. No one had any problem viewing with these eyepieces (over a dozen with glasses).
I can see where it might be problematic for folks with significant astigmatism, though.

Thank you...the TV Equalizer is just what I was looking for to help balance my (relatively) diminutive ES 6.7 with the bigger 9mm and 14mm 100° eyepieces.
And yes, the 9mm is a very nice eyepiece.
