OK, where is everybody? Film astrophotography doesn't have to be mega-multiple hour shots of tiny, dim DSOs!
Let's also see your astronomically related sunsets, moonscapes, etc. All you need is a camera and a tripod.
Go out there and expose some gelatin! Here's one of the 2000 conjunction. Anybody else got some nice conjunction shots?

I love the colors but the picture is too digitized (processed). I'm going to be critical here, Suk (please don't take it wrong!). You have a group of square pixels in the lower left corner....the moon that is illuminated looks like a bannana and the shadow portion is overpowered by it. I would love to see this picture clean...the colors are beautiful!

Tom:
Sorry, here's a less compressed version:
http://home.att.net/~lee.suk/root/widefield/040600.html
The square pixels turn out to be small airplane, and the moon was intentionally overexposed to bring up the planets and the earthshine on the "dark" part of the moon.
I boosted the saturation in Photoshop, but otherwise the picture is pretty close to what's captured on the slide.
Best, Suk

It'll be another couple of weeks or so untill I can some photos taken. I should be bidding on or buying my Canon A1 this coming week.
There are two bodies on e-bay for sale that I swear look like they've never been out of the box except for the e-bay photo. These two are pristine and the guy has nearly a 100% feedback rating. One was up to $182 and the other at $121 last time I looked early this afternoon.
If they don't go too high, I'm bidding on one of these two bodies.

Hi! We need to get all your beautiful photos posted here so we can begin the first ever monthly competition. The judging committee would like to get started with the difficult job of selecting this months featured photos by the end of the week. This is going to be so much fun getting to see everyone's work. Thanks, Tina

Hello all,
I am new to astrophotography. This is a shot of Orion taken with an Olympus OM-1 for 15 min. at f/4 and the film is Fuji Superia X-Tra 400 . I have HIGHLY enhanced this image using the photo editing software gimp. I have posted a slightly enhanced image on another thread.

Suk, Charles, and Schultze, Thank you all for your comments. The lens I used was a 50mm Zuiko stopped down to f/4. I have thought about buying a wide field lens. I really want the 16mm f/3.5 Zuiko, but will probably have to settle for the 24mm f/2.8.

Nate:
I think you'll be happier with the 24mm anyway -- I have a 28mm and it's already so wide that it's only good for a couple of (sky) shots per season. 16mm would essentially give you "all sky" coverage.

Hey Suk, You make a good point. Do you think I might be better off going with a 35mm (more versatile)? I would still like to have one of those 16mm lenses, but I would only use it on couple of shoots. It would be nice to do a supper wide shot, but it is not worth it.

Nate:
I definitely think the 35 is more useful than the 16. I really like my 24mm (my earlier post was incorrect, I thought it was 24mm because I once had a Vivitar 28mm. I bought that because it looked like a bargain, but it was so terrible that it was unusable even at f/8) because I can get a couple of constellations in, but it's not so wide that I can only use it once a season.
Here's an example of Cygnus taken with the 24mm.
Regards, Suk

NDonohoe,
If you want to play with angle of view, make a template for angle of view of the focal length of the lens in the same scale as your sky charts. Then simply overlay them on the charts to see what the lens will photograph.
I agree with Suk, 24mm is very wide, but will be more versatile than a 6mm fisheye. Also as the focal length decreases, you will have more problems with light falloff and barrel vignetting. One more thing to consider is how many trees and power lines you have in your area - tough to point a 24mm lens without something getting in the way. You may find a 28mm lens more practical.
