I'll give it a try too! Here is my very first attempt with a webcam, took it on April 30 from Idaho Falls, Idaho, 22:00. I used a Toucam Pro with a Celestron 9.25 SCT, f20, about 1200 frames stacked with Registax. Transparency was good, but quite a bit of turbulence. I believe the moon is Europa.

Thanks.

I don't have quality but I hope I can have quantity.

All taken with the instruments listed in the image, on a Giro alt-az tracking mount.

Greetings,

My name is Martin R. Howell and I took this picture of Jupiter around 0500UT on May 2, 2004, in Lake Stevens, Washington with a disposable 35mm camera which was on sale for less than four dollars. I hand-held it up to a 9mm eyepiece on my 12.5 inch Meade Starfinder dobsonian and clicked a few exposures hoping that one or two would capture the planet. . .a real task when not using an SLR camera! The next morning, I rushed the camera to a local drugstore for one hour developing of its contents and had the results put on a Kodak Picture CD. Choosing the best image, I then adjusted it as best I could with the accompanying Kodak EasyShare software. The tiny dot (somewhat smaller than a period) in the North Temperate Zone (bottom of image as this is an inverted view) is the shadow of a moon either in, or near, transit. I humbly submit the photo into the contest.
