Congrats to all the others. It was stiff competition and very fun to be part of. The most important thing is allowing all of us to see what else is happening in other parts of the imaging section of CN. Amazing stuff!

Phil, that is an absolutely stunning image! Congratulations. I'm very impressed not only with your ability to capture that, but the time and effort involved. Now that's dedication.

Yes, congratulations to everybody, it was a lot of fun being a part of this. I think a lot of us tend to "hang out" in our respective areas so it was really interesting to see all of the other great entries and to hear everyone's comments. I knew the voting was going to be close.

Erika, I can't even imagine trying to draw what you drew so many bows to you too.

For anyone interested, here is a larger scale of the Crescent Nebula:

Ditto!
Congratulations to all the entrants. And to Phil for that unbelieveable image of the Crescent nebula - that is truly stunning.
It was great to be included in such good company.

Thanks again everybody.

Zach, this one and others that I think are pretty decent have been sent to S&T but I've never had a response back. I'm sure they get swamped with images and have their own criteria for what they need but I think I've about given up on S&T and will start sending in to Astronomy Magazine instead. I also make all my images available to our local astronomy club for use in their monthly publication.

Both Astonomy & S&T are about the same. Six months from now, when you've forgotten you sent it in, the might contact you if they need some info like your mailing address to send you a few free copies.

Oh, OK. I'm not complaining as I understand they both must get lots of submissions but I think they ask that you only submit your photo to one publication so figure I'll give the other one a try. I've been enjoying the Astronomy Photo Gallery more and more lately too.

Great image Phil, with the standard of the competition being so high it must make it doubly satisfying.

Warmest congratulations.

Congrat Phil, well deserved win. I thought I had a good image, but when I saw yours I knew that it was going to be your turn. Very sharp and well processed image. Congratulations.

Rumples, that is an awesome shot of Jupiter, you must have a great view of it down there. How high does it get up into your sky?
