A very nice Jove there Mauro!

Suddenly the ASI120MM seems to be in a lot of planetary imagers' hands.....and rightly so!!!

Yes you may post the picture with credits. Marco Guidi has made other versions ( http://forum.astrofili.org/download/file.php?id=44796&mode=view ), and I believe we can process the image even further better.

Hi again Mauro & Marco.....would I be correct in suspecting that you aligned the rgb channels on the limb and not those details on/in the disk..?

I hope I'm not being too picky but I think the images would benefit by a slight adjustment in the red channel's x&y shifts.....but regardless, as I said, excellent images..!

You are probably right (let us see what Marco says). This is not the very final version.

Hi, I have reprocessed the R channel using a "blind" deconvolution algorithm.

Hi actually, for the moment, it is a custim processing that I have developed in Mathematica. I use an optimization technique that spans a three-parameter space of PSF functions. The "best" PSF is returned. U am still working on the optimization criterion (ie what is "best").
Sometimes the best psf is close to a gaussian psf with FWHM slightly greater that the theoretical fwhm of the optic. In this case it is 0.35".
With this hint one may attempt a classical deconvolution with a PSF that size (you must convert in pixels) and the use some contrast enhacement. One may try sevral PSF radiuses in the vicinity of the above.

Hello, I have reprocessed the RGB tom keep noise below perception threshold.

Here it is an RGB and an RRGB.

This picture has become my benchmark for testing processing methods. I think I have improved.
The bluish border on the right is due to a rapid alignment achieved by shifting the frames laterally (instead of derotation, which would definitely be needed at this scale)

Well, every time i Think there is no further room for improvements, then, some times later I find a way to improve a little bit. I think that optimizing processing is a very important aspect of imaging.

And this is the last process improvement... maybe this is the end (mabe not?).
