Your Favorite Mars Images of 2005
      #733486 - 12/17/05 12:35 AM Attachment (71 downloads)

Thought it might be fun for people to post their favorite (one you took) image of Mars from this apparition since its coming to a close. Weather and seeing have stopped my imaging for close to a month now. I hope to get a few more shots. I'll go ahead and post one of mine, with more to follow later. This shot shows the October dust storm from the 26th. Certainly some of my best seeing ever....

Awesome image! The dust storm was cool.

It was just starting up when I took the frames for the animation below. The seeing was lousy, but at least you can see the storm well enough:

I guess this would be my favourite Mars image that I took.

I was never able to match the detail some of you guys were routinely achieving but overall I have ben happy with my progress.

My favorite...? How about the only one where I got "decent" results, lol!! It's a bit overprocessed but, hey, that's why it's called amateur astronomy...

Great thread idea Lunatiki!
I had better images regarding edge glare reduction, and some with a bit better resolution, but I like this one the most because I can actually see Olympus Mons crater, not just a shadowed bump... well, at least I can.

Bummer, for me this is a good example of loss of data between image formats. In my bmp image, I can see a few lighter pixels that make up the "interior" of the volcanic crator, but when I view the same image, converted to jpeg, they seem to vanish.
Well, like I said, at least I can see it!

Nice pics here!

Posting this pic has me missing the apparition and nights of decent seeing.
