Well, I went and ordered Meade MAX 16 from astronomics..I hope the mount is what is claimed and most of the bugs are worked out. Anyone have any input on this mount ..I know it's new but maybe someone out there has one.. I posted here due to the fact that it's a 16" RCX on a eq. mount..

Do you have an observatory dome to put it in?

Thanks All...But it cost me my car to pay for it.. I have not heard from Astronomics since the order was placed except a confirmation e-mail..The scope is drop shipped so I think it will be a week or two..Got back late from work and have not had a chance to call,, I rent a piece of farm land from a friend that has a nice pole barn on a concrete slab about 16 x 25 x 10 feet high. It's worked out well for my other scopes and is a secure location, Skies about 5.5 to 6.5 according to the time of year and weather. I've gotten into imaging heavy the last year or two and have enjoyed the hobby more then ever now. My pic's are getting better but tracking is my bain.. I'm hoping to use the mount for several OTA's to cover both the wide field and the deeper stuff.. BUT IT IS COST ME MY 2001 custome built Z28, 15,286 miles Z06 motor and trans (sold on Sunday).. I will just have to dry my tears under the stars...
P.S. I do still have my truck,,,

I don't know where I got this but you can consider it fairly accurate. Sometimes a new product is announced and orders are taken. The volumn of orders determines if the product goes on to production. If not enough orders during the announcement phase then the product never goes to production.

The mounts are in the final stages of beta testing for release and the machine shop at Meade is pumping out parts for the scopes as I type. I would expect delivery in October at some point.

Just a little over a month ,, hmmmm that means only one thing. Cold fronts to start blowing in, clears out the clouds, opens up the skies right after and you get some great seeing conditions!!

Recommend that you make sure that Meade understands that you will be posting detailed evaluations of the scope on this and other forums. It may get the attention of the QA department. Best of luck.
