I just purchased an LX-90 10" LNT.
The LNT module appears to be defective but I am worried that it might be an AUX port problem.
When I have the LNT module plugged into the LX-90 AUX port the AutoStar will NOT power-up.
If I unplug the LNT and cycle the power, the AutoStar starts up and works just fine.
I replaced the battery in the LNT and there is no change in behavior.
The LED is broken on the LNT and if I plug in the LNT after the Autostar has powered up, it does not she the LNT.
I am working on getting a replacement LNT. Meanwhile, any suggestions, anyone see this before?

Gday ???
Firstly, what Hbx type and firmware rev do you have?
a) You cannot successfully "hot plug" an LNT module, as the code only ever tries to detect it when the scope is booted up. If you plug it in after booting, it shouldn't hurt, but it wont work either.
b) As to the scope not starting at all if the LNT is plugged in, that doesnt sound good, as there is no code that prevents the Hbx starting. You mentioned plugging it in after booting??? Does the system still work in that scenario??? ie is the LNT dragging the power supply down.

Andrew,
Thank you very much for the reply.
A. I suspected that might be the case. Thank you.
B. Yes, the autostar works, but does not see the LNT.
B.2. I use a very large power-supply so I think this not likely.
More info:
1. AutoStar for the LX-90 is 43EA
2. For grins and giggles I pluged the LNT into the ETX and the behavior was the same with the LX-90 autostar.
3. I have two other Autostar 497's I use with my ETX-125 scopes.
The 43EG turns on just fine with the LNT connected, but does not see the LNT
The 43ED behaves the same as the 43EA Autostar.
Thank you again for the help.

Gday ???
If the 43Eg starts OK with the LNT plugged in but 43EA and ED dont, then it sounds horribly like there may be a code difference in the older firmwares, but that also means it must have got "some data" back, as no data at all would be the same as unplugged.??? Sounding very weird at present. What you could try is to update one of the older Hbxs to 43EG and see if it now starts OK. If so, it certainly points to the LNT unit. In that case, the next step is a logic analyser to look at whats going down the cables.

G'day Andrew, Thank you.
I updated the 43ED to 43EG and strangely no change in behavior.

Gday Tim
So to confirm If you plug in the LNT and your original 43EG Hbx then start the scope, it boots up but wont detect the LNT. If you then sawp the Hbx to the newly updated 43EG one and repeat, the handbox will not come to life at all, but if the LNT is not plugged in, it will start???
If so, all i can suggest as a simple check is to swap the handbox cables between boxes and see what happens.

( after that, it would need a CRO/logic analyser to look at the aux lines to see if any data is getting out of the Hbx.

I can't say enough good things about Andrew and his wonderful My Scope utility. Not only did it take care of all my issues, it was very simple. The very best part was how patient and helpful he was in walking me through the steps. What a great guy!!
Glad to hear! I am very happy for you (as you bought my old scope!) Never was too impressed with ASU/the Cables/The whole thing. I got my LX200ACF 10" last friday, and as of now, the skies have been awful. PLus a few issues, I will elaborate some other time. I hope the scope gives you years of quality use. And if you ever want the really dark skies, you'll have to head NORTH again, and we can go to my camp.

You bet. I have to say the learning curve with the new scope is a bit more than I expected. I trained the drives, and now await a clear night to try it out....been cloudy for 6 nights straight!
