Martin,
You have quite a nice collection and an interesting website, and that Middlesbrough cast is just outstanding! Look forward to hearing more from you here on CN.

Thankyou Jon,my main collecting interests are UK and French historic specimens but i have plenty of others too :-)
I do try to keep up with forums but as i am a member of a few its hard to do. I do my best though and do read all the latest posts here even i dont regularly post. This is an interesting thread though and would love to see what is on others 'most wanted' lists :-)

Davio, We had a great time, thanks and i did indeed kiss the monument :-) And no worries your MT has been shipped this morning, email incoming shortly with additional details.
Regards UK falls/finds, the total list stands as follows:
ENGLAND
ALDSWORTH, Gloucestershire, Stone(LL5), fell 1835
APPLEY BRIDGE, Lancashire, Stone(LL6), fell 1914
ASHDON, Essex. Stone (L6), fell 1923
BARWELL, Leicestershire, Stones(L6), fell 1965
DANEBURY, Wessex, Stone(H6), found 1974
GLATTON, Cambridgeshire. Stone(L5), fell 1991
HAMBLETON, Yorkshire, Pallasite, find 2005
HATFORD, Berkshire. Stones(type?), fell 1628
LAUNTON, Oxfordshire, Stone (L6), fell 1830
MIDDLESBROUGH Yorkshire, Stone (L6), fell 1881
ROWTON, Shropshire, Iron(IIIA), fell 1876
STRETCHLEIGH, Devonshire, fell 1623
WOLD COTTAGE, Yorkshire, Stone (L6), Fell 1795
LAKE HOUSE, not yet classified
SCOTLAND
GLENROTHES, Fife. Stone (H4?), found 1998
HIGH POSSIL, Strathclyde, Stone (L6), fell 1804
PERTH, Perthshire, Stone (LL5), fell 1830
STRATHMORE, Perthshire, Stone (L), fell 1917
NORTHERN IRELAND
BOVEDY, County Londonderry, Stones(L3), fell 1969
IRELAND
CRUMLIN, County Antrim, Stone (L5), fell 1902
DUNDRUM, County Tipperary, Stone(H5), fell 1865
KILLETER, County Tyrone, Stones(H6), fell 1844
LEIGHLINBRIDGE, County Carlow, Stones(H6?), fell 1999
LIMERICK, County Limerick, Stones(H5), fell 1813
MOORESFOOT, County Tipperary, Stone(H5), fell 1810
PETTISWOOD, Westmeath, Stone (type?), fell 1779
WALES
BEDDGELERT, Gwynedd, Stone (H5), fell 1949
PONTLYFNI, Gwynedd, Stone (anomalous), fell 1931
Of these, Hatford, Stretchleigh and Pettiswood have no remaining pieces at all. Ashdon, Danebury, Launton, Middlesbrough, Beddgelert, Pontlyfni and Perth are all in museum collections and although pieces have been removed none as far as i am aware have surfaced in the collector market. Perth in fact has only 2 grams still intact!
So a total of 28 meteorites but only 25 with any pieces remaining. Take away the 8 'unobtainable' ones and that leaves 17. I am very lucky to have all these 17 represented in my collection and i also have a cast of the Fantastic oriented Middlesbrough stone and also a cast of the impact pit it made back in 1881!! Of these i would say Aldsworth and Killeter were the hardest (and most expensive!) to find. Some of the 'unobtainable' ones may possibly be available in the future, who knows but for now i cant see me adding any new UK specimens to my collection but am always keeping my fingers crossed ;-)
Hi Martin,
Excellent! You should make a display of only your U.K. specimens. I once tried to secure a Bovedy (witnessed fall). My mother's maiden name is Bove. Bovedy is pricey and not easy to find. I think Schoolers has a specimen for sale - http://www.schoolersinc.com/meteorites_p_4.htm . I have a 0.070 gram small specimen of Strathmore, a 1.22 gram part slice of Wold Cottage (Russ Kempton), a 0.010 gram fragment w/ Tower & Edward Topham photograph, and a 16.9 gram part slice of a Wold Cottage brick (Rob Elliott).
Note: Maybe you could post a photograph of the Middlesbrough stone and impact pit casts. I'd love to see them.

Nice specimens Davio :-) The thing with most Uk specimens is that they are hard to find and therfore command a premium price. Bovedy is a gorgeous stone with stunning chondrules in. My Middlesbrough impact pit cast is stored in the garage at the moment as it is quite large and i need to find a nice way to display it. The Middlesbrough meteorite cast is shown on my collection pages, the direct link is below:
http://msg-meteorites.co.uk/my-collection/uk-ireland/middlesbrough
It really is a stunning meteorite, i had the pleasure of seeing it in person and even handling it behind the scenes at the York museum where it is kept. However unfortunately i am unable to show any of the photos due to copyright issues.
Cheers

Martin, That is remarkable. I can picture it speeding through the atmosphere ablating along it's path. I can't imagine handling it. That must have been a good day for you.

Here's some I have on my "wanted" list:
Allende Ash Creek Ensisheim NWA 739 Olivine Diogenite NWA 1877 New Orlean's Hammer Murchison a couple of large meteorites, not particular of type.
My collection is not all that impressive; as most are very tiny specimans, but I love having them!

I've never really wanted to collect them.......but I'd love to have one I found myself. Would also like to have a good size chunk of lunar. Something big enough that I don't have to worry about losing it if I drop it on the carpet.
