Ivan; were it in my ability to own one acre of land , my observatory would be there, but I cant ,so I make do as best as I can.

Andy...Didn't the second party to your OB adventure know you were going to actually put an OB on the property???

And second, what is the actual owners intent for the property?

If trouble is actually brewing, then I have no other advice, but to pick up, and move your OB.

I hope you work it out.

If you lived by me, I'd let you put it on my property in a heart beat.

Andy, I'm just concerned about you and your equipment... thats all... (I wish I had a one acre piece of land too, but I don't, so I just built in my small light-polluted backyard )

Like I said, I surely hope all works out to your benefit...

Clear skies my friend!

Actually ,Rob , the land owner is a senior fellow suffering from Altzheimers, his eldest daughter cares for him and takes care of all his decisions.
She gave me permission ot build there ,with the stipulation being it was removable should they decide to sell it or , some one from the family decided ot build on it.
Since I cant afford land, I jumped on the opportunity to have a dark sky site, however temporary.

Better have her leave a copy of her Letters of Guardianship with you. Without those she has no authority to make such an arrangement, and the writing will be worthless.

Hi Andy,

Wow, things sure could get ugly if the poor guy with Alzheimers disease sees the observatory on his land (for the first time, in his mind) and decides to burn it or knock it down while no one is around to stop him. Is he the one who put the sign on your mower?

If damage were to occur, who would be responsible? Can you insure it under those conditions? I'm curious because my neighbor offered to loan a small portion of his land for my observatory, but I politely declined.

Best wishes,
Jason Glass

Looks great, Andy! You've also given me some good ideas about stuff to put in our number 87!

I'm really glad the property issue is settled. Here's hoping smooth sailing from here on out.

Number 86 had its first "night" tonight.Ihad invited a bunch of folks who were said they were eally wanting to see the observatory wanted to see a dark sky, etc.none showed lol.
probably just as well before night fell the grass was already wet,I didnt roll the roof all the way off till after 11 pm waiting for the sky to really darken, bye 11:30 everything was swimming. The stars were twinkling like crazy, and and the field was lost in a fog bank.fog was actually coming over the walls all the telrads dewed up,the poor comet catcher which I had hopes for didnt last 10 minutes with out a dew shield or zapper, close behind was the sct, and last but not least was the refractor.30 minutes tops was all I lasted after it turned dark.
Still it promised so much more ,a place to observe ,a dark sky like I havent seen since last year at Bellevue, and laastly some security.
sooner or later everything will ework out on the same night.probably one Im working on.
