I'm building my observatory on top of my farm house. It's 2 meter X 3 meter in total, 1x2 meter warmroom and 2x2 meter for telescope. The height is 170cm and 184cm (a little slope for the water). I'm using 8cmX8cm fir beam and 20mm thick fir join-axes. I started friday and this is the situation after 2 days of work with my father and my uncle that are helping me in the construction. May be with a pair of hour of work on tuesday I'll finish, I just have to put the door and assemble the roof.

looking good so far, keep the pics coming, how are you mounting the telescope, portable pier, or tripod?

I have a portable pier, but I'm working for a pier detached from wood-base so in close-future I'll do a hole for the fixed pier. I'll put more images when I'll go ahead with the work. Thanks

3 more hours of work in the afternoon, and we completed the roof and put the door in place. Now we have to impermeabilize th roof and complete some details on the door and the closing/folding system of the roof.
Here the warmroom zone with the fixed section of the roof

We worked for 2 more hours today and we finished the door and details about the door, you can see the different color (lighter) of the wood around the door, I have to impregnate this part of wood yet.
Tomorrow we have to check the functionality of the folding roof and are about to finish, last thing is the pier, but I do slowly, I want to try with a classic tripod first.
Some image, real life and a render from the project modeled in 3D Studio Max.
Here there is the file DWF with the structure in 3D, so you can view in 3D all the parts with a DWF viewer, like Autodesk DWF Viewer.
Copy the link in a new window and press enter otherwise altervista.org don't allow you to download the file.

Today I tried to open the folding roof, but it's too weight to move, in two people too, so I changed my mind on the opening system, It will be a classic roll off roof. Tomorrow I'll go buy some wheels and rails to complete the roof...

I changed the folding roof with a more classic Roll Off Roof, now the roof is impermeabilized too, no need to plastic PVC sheet protection. I used 4 meter of iron C-shape rails for side and six 50mm diameter wheel to move the roof.
now I have to complete details, I already started to put panel to divide warmroom to telescope zone.

I did som more work. Completed the warmroom and fixed the roof that now roll so smooth. Now I have a 8" diameter PVC Pier, but when I'll find it I'll make a iron pier so the observatory will be finished.
