Observatory-themed murder mystery published
      #5745758 - 03/20/13 05:40 PM

I haven't read it yet but I have to admit that I'm tempted.

http://www.amazon.com/Sunward-Passage-ebook/dp/B00BKAZODM

Involves professional observatories and astronomers and written by a professional astronomer (no surprise there!)

I read the review and it sounds fun. It's on my list for a try when I finish some other reading. Thanks for the heads up .

Can't find it except on Amazon. My older iPad hates Kindle Books!

Let me guess, a series of murders baffles police investigators until one of them happens to notice all of the victims had bright yard spotlights...thoughtlessly pointed at the observatory!

I also published a book on Amazon but you'd NEVER be tempted to read it unless you needed a sheriff to collect your judgment for you. Oh, well.

Harold McAlister is the author and he is an astrophysicist and the director of the Mount Wilson Observatory in California.

http://www.chara.gsu.edu/~hal/mcalister.html

All proceeds from his two Kindle books go to the Mount Wilson Observatory.

His other Kindle book is about the wildfire that almost destroyed the observatory.

That's probably true. I wonder if one could successfully sneak over and install a remotely controlled switch on a neighbor's mega flood.

I don't have a Kindle but I have discovered that there are Kindle apps for Android, iOS, Windows and even generic browsers. I installed the Kindle app on my Android phone and bought McAlister's two books. I am about 20% through Sunward Passage and have been enjoying all of the technological references as well as the evolving story line. However I discovered that I have been reading dry technical and scientific non-fiction stuff for so long, I am not used to reading so many adjectives!

Almost reads like a classic Heinlein novel, yet set in the present instead of the far-off future.
