Ha Bob!It's been a while that I seen one of your post ,Thought maybe you got a new Vette or something, Good to see your OK . O-By-The-Way your not suppose to mix 2-Gal water with one gal Paint

I Used 5/8"thick 4'x 8' Smart Siding and it comes primed for paint ,I paid @ $28.00 a sheet , If you do like SFGagnon said and make your height 4'.0" you can use one piece for 8 foot of wall,

I have T111 on the house & the Smart Siding on my dobservatory. On the sunny sides where the T111 is, it definitely requires a lot of upkeep. Haven't noticed this with the Smart Siding.

H'm. I'll look into this Smart siding and these rough boards...

OK I'm just kidding , I would look into the 4'x 8' Siding Boards , I think for the $$$ it's the best way to go , And by cutting them in half you will go twice as far, I even used it on the inside.

Nate

So you got 4x8 planks for siding?
If I had a Cedar forest, a chainsaw, and a froe I would split my own boards.
But good idea.
Thanks for the input. This doesn't mean to stop

I used vinyl siding I bought from the local Lowe's. That was about 5 years ago, and so far the only upkeep I've had is painting the door, around the windows, and the 2x4 I have around the top where the dome panels meet the walls.

Carol, as I've said before; that's one of the prettiest observatories I've seen!

Thanks, Carol, although I wish it were in your location. Oh, to have your dark skies!!

Back on topic, though, the vinyl siding was very easy to install, and this comes from someone who had never installed any kind of siding. It has been maintenance free and has held up well.
