Thanks, Michael.

Weather has turned lousy. Not snow at least but heavy rain has curtailed work until tomorrow anyway. Good progress on the steel roofing but not quite there yet.

Terry,Lookin' great! Just wondering if the roof was sheathed with plywood before they installed the steel? Just curious as sometimes ,depending on situation, it is not used.

No plywood, Tim. IMO it would just have added weight that is not necessary. There is just felt paper, as in the Skyshed plans, to prevent any condensation dripping on the gear.

That's going up really quickly!

What about painting the walls; you'll probably have to wait until spring, if your cold-weather location is any indication.

Yup. I had him prime the doors in his shop in the hope it will, just maybe, minimize any warpage. Painting will indeed have to wait 'til spring. Winter rains will cause mud splashing that will have to be washed away before painting too.

Weather has been mighty cold, windy, wet and raw! Could have been snow though! Still they are working on the roof outriggers today. Roofing is not complete yet in that the ridge cap is not fully in place. Too windy for that today. Tomorrow will be colder but sunny. Roof should be complete and "ready to roll" by end of day tomorrow.

Roof support outriggers are operational. Still some work on the ridgecap and then exterior clapboard siding.

Mount should go back in today at end-of-day.

Roof is finally complete! The ridgecap proved a trial. It was preformed for a steeper slope. In adjusting it to fit the very shallow slope here, it got creased and had to be replaced. Took a lot longer than anyone would have thought.

Clapboard siding going on now. Observatory is "useable."
Mount is back in place.

All before significant snowfall!

Should be "finished" Saturday due to expected rain tomorrow.

I contacted, or rather tried to contact, Skysheds about buying their jack kit. I got no response by either email, nor a phone message left?

Shed contractor said he didn't need 'em anyway and used scaffolding jacks instead.

The weather remains typical for our early winter. Depressingly dreary and raw with drizzle and fog.

The work inches along as well as the rain, between the drizzle, allows.

Siding is well underway.

Only the gable ends remain to be sided now plus a few odds 'n ends here and there until completion.

Looks like it's coming along nicely Terry. The clapboard siding looks great too.

Thanks, guys.

It is now finished. Attached is what the shed guy came up with to lock the roof against wind movement. Elegant, effective, easy, no additional hardware required.

Next season, painting, flower boxes under the windows, landscaping and power. This winter I will have to make do with an extension cable. I can get to work making a few amenities, like a work table and some utilitarian shelving.

Looks awesome Terry. How about the walkway up to the doors? With all the rain you get in NS, I can see a mud pit there without some form of walkway. It would be a shame to track debris into your beautiful observatory.

Thanks Nemo and Hilmi:

Yes, a walkway would be somewhere between "nice" and absolutely essential!

As in the attached pic . . . conditions are somewhat "unfavourable" for anything much in this regard at this late date.

Next season!

Oh, I just asked a question re: your siding in your other thread....

I love, love, love the natural look of the siding.

Terry,Have you decided on what to use for closing the gaps on either end to eliminate snow or debris from getting inside?
