Hi folks,
Here is a postcard from Spain (Mallorca). We had 12 days of cloudless nights.
The sketch reflects the view to the South from the terrace of our appartement. I tried to include the lightpollution from a nearby streetlight near the southern horizon as well.

Outstanding, Rony. Sounds like a great time with great skies. Have a binoculars to do a constellation?

Very nice sketch, Rony!
(To bad about that pesky streetlight, though.)

That is truly excellent, Rony. Including that bit of LP really gives an immersive sense of what your environment was like. Very nice use of monochromatic noise to keep digital banding effects at bay.

Rony,
You are a really great sketcher. And I'm not just saying that- you are a truly great sketcher of the sky as it appears.

Roland, Eric, Jeremy and Frank,
Thank you very much for the great comments.
It was fun to observe the largest deep-sky object of the sky.

Rony,
Beautifully rendered, my friend! I'm sorry about the street light intrusion, but you seem to have made the best of it!

Rony,
A beautiful and accurate observation of the Milky Way. You have captured the delicate glow of the Milky Way in your fine rendering. Thank you for sharing it with us all.

Rony,
that's a beautiful view (and not easy to do i think!) of your sky.

Well done! Even before paying any attention to the stars whatsoever, the details of the star clouds and gaps produced by dark clouds was so realistically executed that I knew in an instant what portion of the milky way was shown. I see that you included the obvious splotch of M8, too.

Rony, I have such incredible admiration for your talent! So rare it is to see someone capable of sketching such a wide variety of objects with such fine precision and control. Jeremy did a sketch of the Milky Way a while back. It's a wonderful idea that I've always wanted to try. This sketch is just awesome!

Rony,
When I was in France in July I took a digital photo of the same reason. But after viewing your sketch, i'm not gonna post it

Thanks for the wonderful replies, everyone!
Here is the second view when Cygnus reached zenith. At that time, the light pollution was a little less obvious.

And here is the merged view of the two sketches. The true field of view is about 90°.

Rony,
Your two individual sketches are beautifully done, but seeing the three constellations of the Summer Triangle with the Teapot on the horizon all at the same time puts us in Mallorca with you. Thanks for the view.
