Thank you all for the kind words!

Some conclusions that I have sofar:

- just because a star is a carbon star, it doesn't necessarily mean that it's beautiful red visually.
- the nicest color-contrasting binaries are not carbon stars
- big difference in brightness of a binary's members helps seeing a color contrast
- just because a star is so vivid in color in a planetarium program, it doesn't necessarily mean that it will be colorful visually.
- ruining your dark adaptation helps seeing colors
- sometimes increasing your magnification helps
- sometimes increasing your magnification makes things worse
- stellar spectra is a good tool to find colorful stars
- stellar spectra can be very misleading

Final conclusion: believe in what you see, and not in data and catalogues.

Ferenc, I'm sorry to have missed this. It's quite a beautiful study of colors. I am always impressed with the stars that show distinct color, but admittedly do I seldom seek them out. When I look at your sketches I feel a strong desire to get out and find some deep red carbons and colorful contrasting doubles. Very nice work!

A very beautiful set of colorful sketches Ferenc! I am very impressed with the doubles. You do a such an accurate job of star placement. Well done!

Imagine the way light and shadows would differ on planets or moons of these systems.
