I had good conditions for this pencil sketched Saturn observation with my 6" refractor.

Superb sketch of Saturn. Can't wait till I can get my 6" refractor on it as well. Still to cold around that time for me. Will have to wait a little while. I'm just getting old and grumpy I guess.
Very nicely done and applaud your effort.

Well, since the thread is about this morning's Saturn I will post my sketch here. Unlike Sol, I had bad conditions for my ATMed 10" f/7 newton, that's what I could do. I still don't have an AR motor so I sketched soon after the observation; wouldn't do that for Jupiter but it's not like Saturn in bad seeing overwhelms you with details. It's still a start, more to come hopefully!
New Haven (CT), Feb. 25, 2013, UT 11.00, L1=135, L2=7
Newton 10" f/7, 300x, no filters, seeing IV (Ant.).

Thanks to you for the good sketch. I was not sure about the EB and NTB - seeing was just that bad - but I can see them in your drawing too.

Thanks again. The NEB in concert with Saturn's lower altitude should prove to be interesting.

Pete, that's same refractor 6" f/8 I"ve used for years. I also still use my old 6" Criterion RV6 i had for decades.

Thanks again for the compliments. I hope the template helps cut time involved and makes everybody's sketched observations easier.
It is a pencil sketch which I prefer because it is simple. I used 4H and HB pencils. Mostly 4h. Ebony pencil for the globe's shadow on rings and a white pencil for the C ring. The filter I used dimmed the image a bit, so the C ring brightness dimmed a lot.
The filter I used was sent to me for Beta testing.
Thanks again,

Hi Sol,
Very nice sketch of Saturn. I have noticed it rising in the eastern sky but have not had a change to observe it yet.
Best,
Eric
