Nice sketch Ken, one of my first sketches I made back in the 1970's was M41 using a pair of binoculars.

Best,

Eric

Thank You Eric,
I always love seeing open clusters. Especially in Binoculars.

Hi Ken,

I recently scanned in my sketch of M41 that I made on January 2, 1975 using a pair of 8x40mm binoculars. It was the third deep-sky sketch that I ever made up to that time.

Clear Skies,

Eric

Hi Ken,

Thanks, and yes it is fun to look back.

I had forgotten that I made the sketch until you posted yours.

Best,

Eric

Here's my sketch of M41 using my 4" refractor. It would be interesting to start some threads where multiple members post their own sketches of the same object, it is fun to compare impressions.

M41 is a nice cluster to sketch, there are some attractive pairings and I agree with you, the two central bright stars are quite a nice gold hue. It does not show up well in my sketch following compression for posting here.

I enjoy open clusters. The geometries appeal to me.

This is my sketch of M41 made with a 80 mm Skywatcher Equinox refractor at 23x. It's an attractive object for little diameter.

Very nice sketch also Laurent. I agree that M41 is an attractive object for little diameter.

Best,

Eric
