Greg,

Wonderful detail. I've never seen the central star stand out so well. Do you know whether the blue core is O3 as in the case of m27.
I share your frustration with the captured image being of lower quality than the monitor view. I wonder if the information stored when you capture the image is still there to display if you have the right display device.
My live crt image is always better than any reproduced image. It would be interesting to find some way to use the captured image to regenerate a video image that could be displayed on the original monitor to see how much has been lost.
I wonder (I wonder a lot) what your equivalent aperture is.

Bill

Thanks Bill,
I always tweak the image on the screen before I capture it, I just try to make it look good to my eye so my images don't represent the true colors of the objects captured. I'm not sure if the Little Dumbbell is an OIII object or not, but with an eyepiece and an OIII filter I see more of it...:O)
I have wondered if hooking up a CRT monitor to my laptop might result in capturing a better image????
The image always looks better on the smaller monitors, I'm trying all different kinds of small monitors, I just ordered a 9" 500 line HighRes color monitor with 5 separate adjustments for the image on the screen. I think it will have a nice image ...I Hope, I Hope, I Hope,(I have got to STOP spending Money)

Greg

Greg,
After seeing the rest of your images I have three reactions:
1.Shock and awe. Stunning!!!
2.You qualify as the first astroimpressionist.
3.I'll be right over.
Just wonderful!

Bill

PLEASE don't enter "post-processed" or stacked images in this forum. There is a specific imaging forum and a gallery for that purpose.

We want to keep images in this forum to JUST what one sees when using their AVA devices.

Thanks!

Greg,

Let me know how that Speco monitor works out. I have been eyeing it for several months due to its smaller size than the 14" Sanyo that I have been using. It weighs a lot less and its power consumption is considerably lower making it more appealing to those who use batteries and inverters.

Here is a digital camera shot of the monitor showing M101. I was using a 12 second MallinCam B&W HYPER on my 17.5" TeleKit with COulter mirror.
