Good start Moromete. May I suggest trying Deepsky Stacker Live. You could then use shorter integrations and lessen tracking errors. Going unguided requires very good polar alignment and a weight bias on the counterweight side to minimize tracking error. I don't guide either and taking these measures, if you haven't already, can squeeze reasonable integration times out. If there is excessive error in the RA axis you may want to adjust the worm gear mesh with the main drive gear and clean out the stock lube, replacing with a good quality grease ( non-silicon).

Devon,
I prefer your first version of M20. In the tweaked one, and all subsequent images which appear to have been similarly treated, the sky has been made too dark, thus losing the subtler and fainter details.

Hi, Glenn...
Actually, they are not tweaked... they are as captured. The background is darker because I've set the camera software that way... I've always preferred a 'cleaner' black background, unless I'm trying to squeeze all the detail I can out of the picture. I do see your point, though.
Thanks!
Devon

Good first attempt especially with a modest 80mm aperture scope. I think you need to check focus - it seems very soft to me. Also from the number of hot pixels I suspect you're shooting @ >25C and you need the auto dark option to minimise this effect for an uncooled cam.

ps: 1] for a quick mono image from Raw use Filter/Gaussian Smoother + contrast stretch = finished pic.

2] post remove hot pixels via Median Filter/Radius=2/ power =0.6 + Radius =1/Power=0.6 etc.

Good luck

Hi, Glenn...
Another thing I've noticed... I've got a dozen or so LCD computer monitors that I use... there can be a LOT of difference from one monitor to the next with the subtle detail and extent of what shows...
Have a great one!

Hi, Ken...

I have an old Sharp 13" CRT TV I bought for my daughter many years ago... It has a built in VSH tape recorder, and composite inputs. It's been on my observing desk hooked to the MCX from the first, and you are right; it blows the LCDs away. I also have a 9" multiple input portable LCD I use for outreach... battery lasts for over 6 hours.
