The AT102EDF is f/6.95. I use the MFR-3 focal reducer with one extension ring or the Celestron f/6.3 FR to get the scope closer to f/4.5.

All, thanks very much for your replies.

So aperture matters, but speed rules!

I definitely want to try video assisted astronomy as soon as time and budget permit. Looks to be very cool.

And speed AND aperture is the best of all...

Can you say "Hyperstar and C11 or C14"... sure, I knew you could....

Seriously... anything works with a MCHP...

I had a blast with my ED100SF (f9 100mm)... used the MFR3 reducer to reduce it down to around f4.5-5 or so... was fine... my f4.0 R200 was even better (operating down at f2ish with the reducer)...

My C11 Hyperstar... shazzaaaam.... 11" of f2.0

Makes my mind boggle at the C14 class...

it's ALL good quite frankly...

the first time you see COLOR on things like Dumbbell, Ring, Galaxies... will blow you away... and you can easily do that with 80mm aperture...

enjoy!
