Olivier: the safest position is on the rockerbox. Will remain positioned roughly the same therefore your eyepieces cannot fall out of it.

It's been a while since I last posted an update on this thread.
Due to time constraints and bad weather I didn't have the luck yet to thoroughly test my scope.
However today I went to a Fab Lab, thanks to a colleague at work, and bit the bullet to have the filter wheel printed in black ABS. The current plexiglas version of the filter wheel is too heavy and isn't working due to some manufacturing issues and balance (it's heavy!).
In principle the filter wheel MkII should be ready somewhere next week.

The 3D print job was a success!
Here's a view of the filter wheel without filters.

The recesses in the filter wheel are tight enough to allow pressing the filters in the wheel without requiring extra hardware to keep them in place.
Here's a view with 3 filters installed.

The rim of the filter wheel contains an alignment groove and has recesses to keep track of the filter positions.

Another view, here you'll see the difference between a filter hole and the no-filter hole (next to my thumb.

It would be better to have a loose fit and glue them into place. Tension is you biggest enemy...!

You're right, Chris. Luckily the filter holders have some room (I hear the filters "rattling" when I move them).
Gluing could be done with some hot glue.
I should have foreseen holes for tiny setscrews
I hope to find some time now to tweak the 3D printed filter wheel... it's cloudy and rainy anyway
