Great reports, everyone ! I was very excited to get a home that had the workshop already set up. There also is a door that leads from the shop to a covered patio and then to an outside driveway slab- a great place to set up scopes for observing! I'm in the final stages with one of my main scope projects. Thanks for posting! G

Here's mine, once built the scopes move to the garage. This is my small parts table. I have been doing a lot of restoring/reconditioning of late, so there are a lot of odds and ends.

This table of junk is where the big scopes go when they are being worked on. On the right is my 8" classical cass and on the floor you may be able to pick out half of it's future mount!

You guys up north with the basements are lucky (except when they flood). When we moved into our new house here in S. FL. we added on a room for my "ham shack" with enough extra room for overflow storage (mostly of my hobby junque). There is enough length to the room to test mirrors with 20' ROC (and I can make it dark enough), but I don't know how stable temperature wise it will be. I'm "into" other DIY activities such as wood working, and electronics. I'm now looking at setting up a small foundry for casting aluminum. I'll probably try casting parts for a mirror cell for the 7" plate glass mirror I've been making. I've tried running plop under Wine under Linux (it crashes now and then), and it looks like a 6 or 9 point cell will work fine for a 7" F7 19mm thick mirror.

Here is my mini machine shop for small projects.
Current projects include an off-axis F10 spherical 2.5" reflector, restoring a classic Edmund scope, creating a Dob mount for said Edmund scope.
I'm trying to figure out how to make my first newtonian focuser for the 2.5" at the moment. I made a really simple mirror cell with 3point adjustment so far.

I live in East Tennessee and never had a basement before. Can't imagine not having one now. FWIW I grew up in Louisiana where just a few people had basements. Only they were called indoor pools.

Now that looks more like my workbench that's just out of site in this shot. Here I'm testing my refractor with a reflector.
