Toni sent my new (to me) Fuji 25x150s + Sirius mount from Bogota via 2 day courier. They just arrived and I've unpacked them. A quick visual inspection shows everything in good shape. I will have to wait for my tripod to arrive before I can really test them. Oh boy!

One hint I'll pass along. I was very worried about possible customs charges when bringing these big boys into the US. I did some research and apparently there is no import duty on binoculars and binoculars mounting equipment. I have no idea why not.
I had Toni prominently mark the contents as binoculars and binocular mount (rather than something like "optics") and sure enough they flew though customs without a problem. Given that customs fees can be anywhere from 3%-8%, that saved a chunk of money.

There has not been a US customs tax on prism binoculars since about the late 1970's, or 1980 . I was then surprised when I heard that the fee was gone. Some importers petitioned for repeal of the fees, because there were no longer any prism binocular factories in the US. There was very small production, at exorbitant prices, of the overly complicated, maintenance problem plagued ( soft eyelens glass , insufficient nose relief in the eyepiece housing) military shipboard 20 x 120 designs , locked-in by the inertia of old specifications, or perhaps by local political considerations to save at least a small remnant of the US optical instrument industry, but that must have been considered negligible in comparison with the import flood since WW II.
But high import fees continued on Soviet and Soviet Bloc prism binoculars. One supposes that those fees have vanished.
The last time I looked, microscopes, monocular telescopes, and optical components in general, were assessed import duties. Has that changed?
Thank you for the picture.
I should like to see close photo(s) of the details of the yaw axis bearing region on the outboard part of the L-arm. And, did UA retain the Fuji tapered male dovetail as the mounting-dismounting interface, or is a UA dovetail, or something else, now that interface? Can one move the binocular fore-aft there for balance - on an (untapered) dovetail pair? Or,via what mechanism? Picture(s) will probably suffice.

Congratulations Bill, Welcome to the club! I'm sure you will soon see the value of the original case too. If you are also a fan of terrestrial viewing, you may like to try some digiscoping too.

Surplus ( if one can find the proper size used, rather than $$$ new) industrial-military Hardigg rotomolded polyethylene cases, with their rounded corners and recessed closures, are less likely to damage vehicle or household floor or seat coverings.
With their o-ring seals , and if one adds some silica gel dessicant bags placed inside , they make ideal storage or shipping containers for optical instruments. They are tougher than the Pelican types and their copies.

Ships, trains (She'll be comin' around the mountain...") and optical equipment are always "she."

Bill, how large are the eyepieces on these compared to the Fuji 10x50 and 16x70?
Pics seem to show a smaller diameter eyepiece on the 150s, is this just an illusion becuase the tubes are so huge? I have never seen one "in the flesh".
