I just got this (see my "carrion" thread in this forum), and am still tweaking the collimation and tightening things up here and there, but so far, it's looking to be a winner!

-Tim.

Don't you just love getting home from work only to find out the postman came by The setup is not complete yet, but it surely qualifies as a picture of a CAT!

I thought I would try a dual scope setup, to avoid lugging two mounts around all the time. Here is the CGEM with a C9.25 and ED80 mounted on an ADM side by side. Damping time is still under 2 seconds even though it is at the limit of the scope - 40 lbs of equipment and 40 lbs of counterweights. Kind of surprised at how easy it was to balance too.

Wes,

It's clear who rules at your house! Ahhh, the arrogance of those little critters....

Phil (who is also ruled by a Cat!)

I usually use the Sirius mount and C8 in the backyard because it is pretty fast to setup and takedown. So I can get a couple of hours observing done on a work night.

If I am really short on time I usually use the ED80 on the AT Voyager mount.

When I have a lot more time to view, like on a weekend or when I travel to the dark site, I always use the CGEM and either the C11 or C9.25. I will also set up the AT Voyager with the ED80 along side the CGEM to get some good wide field views. I decided to try out this new dual mount idea to see if could eliminate having to take the AT Voyager mount with me all the time. After trying it out last night on the moon and a few star clusters I was very impressed. It also solves the dew issue for me too. Having the scopes on the same mount means I don't need two dew controllers and two batteries, I just need to plug two wires in the dew controller on the CGEM.

Not the best picture, but this is a real cat with a real dog.
The C11 is in Massachusetts now and the CGE is in Ohio. But the dog is still here, and now he's guarding a C9.25, and I'm still waiting for him to take a picture of it ..............

John

That's a Hyperstar lense and can be seen here. This will explain the whole thing.

David
