Nice rig Jeff!
I have been tempted several times to move from my C11 to a C14 for my G11, but have so far resisted.
Is that 55 lb of counterweights you have on there??

Steve

Thanks Steve and yup that's 55 pounds of counterweights.

Hopefully there will be a first light tonight. I know it needs collimation. Was cetrified by Company 7 so I expect the optics will be decent.

My winter time project will be to install an active/passive cooling system. My C11 has one and it makes all the difference in the world with regards to usibility of the instrument. May install carbon fiber tube at the same time...Hey 3.5 pounds is 3.5 pounds.

Jeff

Picked up a new/used CAT (C6 Celestron) with the intention of giving it to my son. Now, after a great first light night, he may have to get his own.

Well, this is my new-to-me (but not new at all, it says 1999 on the box!)ETX 125. Equipment included in this picture: Garmin GPS II+, homemade pylon "tripod" (now that I look, it's more likely a pier instead of a tripod), and a screw on dew shield. More details on the rear in the next post...

Continued from my first post.

The rear has my 45 deg. diagonal attached, in it is a 2X Barlow, and a Meade MA 17.5mm eyepiece. In the astronomical eyepiece position, is my primary eyepiece I use, the Meade Super Plossl 26mm. Unseen accessories is a Meade MH25mm, MH9mm, standard controller, 2 diagonals, etc. Just like what my description says. Besides complaining I don't have enough eyepieces, nor a reliable power source, it has been a blast to use.

RT, that's a nice rig. Isn't that the Celestron Advanced series? I thought about this as my next telescope for an astrophotography setup. How does it preform? Is it a lot of fun to use? TIA

Hi Ron, any chance you have any more details on how that pier was built ? I've been trying to decide on how I want to build a pier for my C8 this coming spring and that one has caught my eye.

Here is a project of mine that is just about finished. Niteskystargazer made the OTA in the 70's at the Adler planetarium mirror shop(closed long ago). This is an 8" f16 Classical Cassegrain with a 2-speed focuser mounted on a newly painted and refurbished Criterion EQ mount. I added Losmandy style mini saddles and a Celestron Losmandy rail.

I have had trouble figuring out the exact seperation between the Primary and secondary but hopefully I can get that taken care of in the next week...
