Notice all the cloud cover in Oklahoma??
      #5870419 - 05/18/13 10:23 PM Attachment (50 downloads)

Made it home yesterday with my AGOptics 17" IDK. I built a gantry in the observatory to hoist it from the crate to the mount and it went perfectly. Got all the wiring hooked up and neatly bundled to allow for the Pyxis rotater and spacers to accommodate the Atlas focuser. Now all I need are some stars!

And finally, the scope.
(before sorting out all the wiring..)

What a mistake you've made. I actually feel pretty bad for you. I'll tell you what I'll do. Send me that OTA and pay shipping and i'll go ahead and send you my 14" SCT. Hey this is no joke. F/8 and a neato internal 7-1 focuser!!

I'm serious. I'll do this for you.

My wife was on a plane from Atlanta to Phoenix today, and she reported seeing supercells over OK.

Aircrftr,

I just flew through that (Chicago to Albuquerque). Actually they diverted us to Oklahoma to split (loosely speaking) the weakest part of the super cells. We then followed the Ok-Tx panhandle.

Most frightening flight ever...

Tornados in that puppy too...

Hello Aircrftr!

Awesome, awesome setup! I live in Tulsa, Oklahoma and yes the cloud cover has been horrible lately! I am so jealous of your setup. Man I would love to see that in person sometime. Care to have a visitor?

-Tony

So that's what did it! We have more rounds of supercell storms predicted for today and tomorrow. Perhaps we should put FEMA on alert whenever someone here gets a major league scope like that . . .

Yep, typical Oklahoma weather. Although, I'm glad we are getting the rain as it was so dry last year. If spending money on equipment is what it takes to bring the rain, I'll take one for the team.

Tony, Sure, come on over! I'm one of those people who pretty much does my hobby in isolation. People around here don't get very excited about astrophotography, plus it's pretty much my fortress of solitude. LOL. I'd love to show you around my place and see all the mirror grinding operation you've got going on there!

PM sent, Dan

Nice scope! Congrats!

I probably didn't help this week. I have an AT72ed, field flattener, 50mm guidescope, an Orion SSAG, and a Dew Not system showing up this week.

Nothing compared to your beast, so most of the blame lies with you.

A couple more shots. I have my wire harness under control and with summer rapidly approaching, I need to get my water lines to the camera.
