Nice work Gregg, you found a 10te with a lower serial number than mine

Does your 6 digit lower serial number scope have these dished focus knobs or the standard (awesome) machined solid knobs?

A few other numbers for the record...

Sears 6336 (Royal Astro) 76.2mm = 272344

Sears 6345 (Royal Astro) 90 mm = 990185

other keith

Keith, interestingly, while both our 0 starting serial numbers where most likely made in the same year I believe my other pictured serial number starting with a 9 to be the older one most likely manufactured in 1959 versus 1960 for ours starting in 0. Could be confusing to some. Pictured is the 1960 model with the cool knobs. That Mayflower looks nice! More pictures or its own thread maybe?

Just in case someone is still collecting data for this registry, my 1968 Tasco 7TE-5 (60/1000mm) is #861802.

After going back through the CN archives, it looks like my Optica 76mm scope (SN 740352) doesn't conform to the "normal" numbering scheme, but follows the one for the ones listed as being from Aust. (Not sure if that's Austria or Australia.) Perhaps in an older numbering scheme, the Royal Astros used the model number for the first two digit on the SN. Has anyone managed to figure this out?

sn 670492

I always thought that was a philips screw next to the serial, but no, I guess it is some kind of symbol designation

I think mine is a 10TE since it is a 76.2mm without clock drive.

Darrell, here's the serial number on my Tasco 7T 22335. Another odd-ball like Dave's in Arizona.

Hi Darrell, I'm throwing mine into the mix. Purchased in July 1964 in Tokyo - I don't know if it's been recorded:

The folks I got it from didn't know the age, but the mount is original to the scope and it has no azimuth circle and has an earlier style declination setup. Unfotunately, the clock drive has no markings whatsoever on it. I have not seen any other Optica 76x1200 scopes, but there must be others around. My guess is that this scope is from the early 60's, but who knows? Does anyone know if the former owner(s) of Optica b/c are still around? And I sure wish my scope had a serial number with a "108" in it.

I believe this turned out to be a 15TE.
