My scope collection has uncovered an unintended consequence, my wife has a reason to shop for a new and bigger house  Her justification is now the fact that I have to display my scopes in shifts, LOL!!!

PS: The house hunting has become a positive part of her recovery from a recent surgery. I tried to tell her for years that these little scopes had more than just sentimental value....

I can see, grabbing the scope at the back to pop out to observe obviously means you would have to move several others first, I would reccomend she finds a house with a long narrow living room whee they could all go along one wall a single scope deep.

Hi Chuck!!There is the potential for the klutz god  to strike as you move scopes around to get one out to the yard.He always lurks around to bump your arm or cause you to drop an eyepiece.Like you,I have four scopes set up near the patio doors for easy access to outside,so I always have to move one of 'em to use the one I want.BTW-great collection G

Yes, I need to queue them now. On the other side of the piano is another 8' door, so I open the one near the scopes take the handy one out then move everything forward. When the scope come back in the other door it goes in the back of the line

That's an impressive collection, Chuck. It's better to upgrade to a bigger house than to part with such fantastic scopes. Just think - you can seek a house with a large spare room so that you could have more space for more scopes!

I'm with desertrefugee on this one - most of my "grab and go" scope are on my breezeway. This allows them to be closer to ambient outdoor temps, and closer to being under the stars too.
Not to mention the fact that there's no space for them in my living room, given the two pianos and Wurlitzer organ... but I digress.
You need a house with an enclosed breezeway or patio, Chuck!

Unfortunately, I have to keep mine in my garage, about the only safe place for my herd. (Inside I would have a big issue with the 2 labs running into things as well as my 2 daughters (8&9)).
This shot is of them out in the open, normally they are tightly packed into a 4x4 area (or less ) of the garage.
I can and do get them out in just a few moments.

For the record, I don't keep any of my optics on the back porch. Those were out for a photo op that day - the rest were snug in their boxes in the "scope room" and a couple of closets.
In Arizona, we don't worry so much about humidity and rust, but the DUST is horrendous.

No, no, no, you just need a big hammer, preferably a sledge. Then you rent a Bobcat, send the wife away to her sister's for 2 weeks. In just one weekend, you'd be surprised how much bigger that living room can be with just a little coaxing. Plus, if you order the roof trusses now, and schedule it right, you'll have all the extra room you need, and what wife wouldn't like a new bow window and ten extra feet in the living area?

A small scope that gets used often is a better investment than a big scope that stays in the closet.
Unitrons, you spend more time looking at them than you do through them.

I would NEVER abuse a telescope in such a fashion.

If I put one scope up in the living room, then we wouldnt be able to move round the room at all, we have a typical English terraced house Living room, scarcely 12 foot in any direction - well maybe 15 foot tops.
But I do have the parts of several mounts scattered around my chair, plus the optics for a few projects, and as of tonight a first surface mirror and lens from an overhead projector I found thrown out today, I'm planning to try and grab the fresnell lens from it friday.

well chuck you can get 7 diffrent views if you set all 7 scopes up at once.. dont guess you can have to many scopes,just not enough places to putem.
