The mount on the first scope looks like the one on my recently-acquired Bushnell Sky Chief II. In this thread - <<THIS THREAD>> - I describe it and Sheldon Faworski also offers photos of his Jason 80/1200 with the EXACT mount you show. Sheldon also informs us that these were manufactured by Mizar. All I can say is that they are a cut above the typical 2.5 - 3" scope mount (Unitron not withstanding).

Excellent, this solves a long-standing question of mine - where did the nascent run-from-the-kitchen-table Meade company get their refractors? See the 290 in this catalog!

Towa Optical. (Circle T on the label)
Towa made a million of these things and they were distributed and badged by dozens of companies in the US and in Europe (and possibly Australia).

Hey for the Towa 60mm, do you have the original color-coded oculars? (These scopes have oculars, not eyepieces The Meade branded version came with the 6, 9, and 12.5mm Huygenians and everyone's favorite pre-Cambrian "widefield", the 22mm Gumby-green Kellner! I would like to see a set of those up close. My 76mm also had a 4mm Huygenian.

you could have knocked me down with a feather, it arrived this morning - less than 26 hours from when I won it on the bay, its in good ish condition, the finder objective has a couple of clamshells, and theres a slight dink in the tube (nothing to worry about) it came with a single eyepiece (H20) and an erecting prism, and a dinky little light on the accessory tray (that really works), the .965 diagonal is also a prism and it all needs a bit of a clean and spruce up, but other than that barely looks used.
