A CW keyer is probably a better guess than a ETX125 in a box with a speaker.

Tonight I will post a better picture. Sorry for the confusion. I will give a hint that it is part of an assembly. Maybe no one else has ever had one of these apart. I was surprised to find this beautiful laquered box.

It's a very beautiful focal plaine curtain shutter. It was used on older large format cameras and also on astro cameras. See the Polarex/Unitron cameras

My, we have a bunch of hams here, huh? I'm K4CMD!
Funny, I got into ham radio because a (now-deceased) member of our local astronomy club was a ham. He used to bring mobile rigs out to observing sessions in the late 70s (when mobile rigs looked like today's base rigs, lol). The bug bit me hard and he actually administered my novice license exam to me in 1979. Here's to ya, Jean-Paul!
73 to whom it concerns above, and yes, my initial thought was also CW key/keyer of some sort, but I kept my mouth shut because of the subject of the thread ...

Very good. I knew a Unitron collector would figure this out. I will take a picture of the whole camera. The one I have is on of the nicest ones I have seen. I am sctually thinking of cutting up some 120 film and trying it out. from what I have gathered even the best digital camera is still nowhere close to the pixel count of film. Film is around 380 mega pixels.

I will put up a copy of the manual. Also, some better pictures of the complete assembly. The shutter assembly is part of the camera. The shutter screen had come loose from the shutter actuater assembly. It is a very simple box. I still need to find the air bulb that fits onto the assembly to actuate the shutter.

I've been a ham since I was 15. I won my high school science fair by building a 10-meter (band) radio telescope and monitoring solar radio noise, plotting it against sunspot counts. A great way to merge the two hobbies.

Many moons ago when I was into moonbounce (EME) on 432 MHz I use to point my antenna array towards the sun, Jupiter, and Cygnus X-1 and note the noise level increase. In fact I often used the "sun noise" to check and calibrate my system.
And to the OP, sorry for hijacking your thread. But I thought it looked like a CW keyer too.

Many of you were hams, I was wondering if any of you were ever coilers? I built my first Tesla Coil when I was in high school beginning with a 15000 volt Franceformer and a 1964 copy of Popular Electronics.

I built my first high voltage transformer coil by mistake. Forgot to leave a gap at the begining and end of the secondary on a toroid. When I powered it up it gave off this blue corona. Really beautiful looking, but we were all afraid to touch it. I am sure sooooonnnnn the moderator is going to remind us what this section is all about

LOLOLOL, it's missing on mine too! Look at it, it's flat as a flitter and solid as a rock. The rubber had flattened out over time and taken the imprint of anything touching it. It's solid and hard. I'm keeping it because, well it's original, and a rather funny degradation.

I might have to make something. All it does is lift up on the shutter actuator. wonder if there is an aftermarket device considering this same shutter device was used on many cameras.
