brian how will that work on the camera end? I thought some sort of small bulb is needed to raise up the actuator on the camera?

You will still have to find a bulb But that should not be hard to Find....just finding a red one Of those little ones for rinsing Your ear out....till you can find The real thing....and that would Most likely be the whole camera.

"So here it is – My Last Classic Scope. The bucket list is complete for me. No other telescopes need apply."- Boy I've heard that one before. Usually in my own head, and often just before I buy another,
Never say never
Sincerely though, you did a beautiful job restoring a wonderful scope.

Brian
I am talking about the little bulb that goes on the cemera shutter. Maybe I am wrong, but I thought that was more than just the little hose at that end ?? I understand about the bulb and the operator end.

Thanks for the nice words everyone. This scope really is a beauty.
There is just something about a Unitron refractor that defines the term Classic Telescope. White tubes, black attachments, wood tripod, beautiful design and workmanship, easy to use controls, Just Classic.
But....this.....is.....my......last......classic.......scope.........no, really.......

The bulb and hose for my shutter release are petrified too.
I did some searching for "air shutter release" that turned up some possibilities. Most of what I've seen for cameras have a small unit on the camera end, like a piston in a cylinder, that moves a plunger on the end, like for an old SLR. I suppose you could just cut off the end where the hose ends but, as Johann asked, what do you use for a small bulb at the camera end? Maybe the right eye dropper bulb might work. A medical supply store might be a good place to try.

Let's all try and find that little bulb. What Brian found is great. 2/3 of the way there.
That is also a great Unitron.

This place also had other types of bulbs. What you guys think about the one in the link working for an shutter release bulb. I have no idea what size it needs to be.

For some reason this OTA has holes and screws for the 8x30mm finder too.
Hi Jon, I suspect that the 75 mm tubes were drilled for the 8 x 30 mm finder so that they could be used on the model 142 also. My model 145 photoequatorial also had holes and screws for the 8 x 30 finder. But since I had an extra set of 8 x 30 finder brackets, I put one on (albeit with a Criterion finder, until I can find a Unitron) BTW, beautiful restoration job on your scope!! Steve, NM

I really think it is a beautiful scope. However, I think it needs one more finder scope.
